Mattresses - I need knowledge

I'm three months into having my Dormeo Memory Plus mattress and I'm still beyond impressed. I don't get the back or hip pains I used to have (my old mattress was silly old and cheap so anything would have been better), and I genuinely have a great nights sleep every night. I think pillows are my next test, when I ordered my mattress, the Dormeo website had a free memory foam pillow offer, but the delivery times were a bit too long so I ended up ordering from Amazon Prime - I do wonder if a memory foam pillow would enhance my sleep.

But yeah, £250 for a Dormeo Memory Plus and it was money well spent for me, and I'd recommend it as one to try. The little slip in the rolled up mattress had something on about some kind of in-home trial but I didn't pay too much attention to it - might be worth checking out.

King-size John Ryan ordered,

Customer service phoned me up within 5 mins to confirm everything check how fat we are so we get the correct bed and just be really helpful.

Hope the bed is as good (artisan range)

We've got their basic "origins" one (albeit with a hybrid foam topper) also king size and find it fantastic. I'm sure you'll be happy.

As per @ganesh we'll go back as and when we need another mattress in future.

As above, loved the courtesy call after ordering. It was good they double checked I had ordered the right firmness. They do ask before you order (the number of.pocket springs) but not everyone who orders a mattress knows them as well as they do themselves and whether it's suitable. A quick call to check your delivery date and then ensure.your ordered the right firmness saves you getting.it, unpacking, sleeping for a few months and it needing sending back and a replacement sent out.

30 second call to save me a few days off work if one has misunderstood and ordered the wrong item? Yes please. The extra service from a specialist company who've been in the business for decades is welcome.

I guess so. I think I just have something against people calling me, I've been through one argument on this forum about it before, so maybe I wont start it back up again. I generally prefer an email or text that I can get back to them when I have a moment. :)

People behave differently when they have an amicable sounding person on the phone versus some automated email with a form to fill in, I'd guess it is the best approach for both sides.

I initially figured it would be an up-sell opportunity but that wasn't the case at all.

The phone call was a surprise, however it was very welcome, went through everything i did online just to double check it all, took about 5mins.

We've spent the day trying various Silent nights, Hypnos, Vispring etc and in the end we went with a Simba...
The only mattress to us that felt better was the Hypnos Superb pillow top but we couldn't justify the extra £ over the Simba...

Splashed out on new sheets and everything too.. So tonight should be a good night :)

We've had our Eve mattress for around 5 months, no issues with it.
Comfy, supportive and inexpensive, especially with discount codes and offers available most of the time.

I'm thinking of getting one of these mattresses delivered in a box e.g. Leesa, Simba etc. Can you pick a delivery date/time slot e.g. Saturday and/or evening? Similarly when returning it, can you do the same?

Of course not, but rather than just blind buying one you can at least get an idea of what they feel like as they are all different, for example when we tried them we found Eve to be a fair bit harder than Simba.

Then you can go out and blow £500 on one and go thought the hassle of returning it if you're not happy.

;)

Even in shops, cannot determine whether it would last the >10years I would expect,
so will wait to find out whether the (bed in a box) style of mattress will have the long term robustness;
ok, they are cheaper than flat matresses, but I still fail too see how the compromise of materials (within the budget) to allow folding up, will not impact lifespan.

noted that neither Eve/simba are making profits (marketting costs)
Eve Sleep lost £19million last year on sales of just £27million, the company revealed.
Losses shot up 41 per cent as the online mattress retailer dealt with costs associated with listing on the London Stock Exchange.
Its bottom line was also hit by a significant increase in marketing spend, which soared 119 per cent to £17.2million

UK mattress startup Simba Sleep raises £40m and is heading for profit in some markets
...
"While we acknowledged that the evidence demonstrated that the Simba Sleep mattress contained attributes that might well be unique, we considered that we had not seen comparative evidence and were therefore unable to assess whether the Simba Sleep mattress was more technologically advanced than all other mattresses available on the market," the ASA said.

"Because we had not seen objective comparative evidence in relation to all relevant competitors across the market, we concluded that the ads were misleading, " the advertising regulator concluded.

so market may have some rationalization

Well I've just added to the Simba sales profit forecast and pulled the trigger on a King-size. Had a brief bounce on one last weekend at a John Lewis' and are looking forward to the deliver this coming Tuesday. It replaces a John Lewis's own brand pocket mattress with hint of memory foam thing which is now well past the point of no return. Lasted just 5 years!
