I'm not a great fan of enabling it here but sometimes there are posts that I don't really have a reply to but want to react to - not often enough to really make it worth having working likes though.

Liking posts would ruin this forum imo, particularly this section. It’s already bad enough with people posting things for effect/lols.

I don't think it would make any difference, people already post for the LOLs. Now we can ban the OP and anyone who liked their posts

Ignoring GD for now (because we should, definitely) the "Thanks" button would be very useful on pretty much every other sub forum on OcUK.

Think it's fine as is really - a Like or Thanks button just makes in more impersonal; whereas taking the time to reply, keeps the discussions going imo.

This I do agree with, but I feel once that's introduced we're on the way to people saying "Well we had a thanks button why can't we have a like button?" and will end up being the first of a load of irreversible changes.

I think that this would just catalyse the posting behaviour of some of the more annoying / extreme members, and I'm sure the mods don't really want their job made any more challenging...

Can we get custom buttons? That way Psycho Sonny can tag things as "this is absolutely correct" and "thats crap"...

On topic, I thoroughly dislike "Like" buttons, unless there is also a "Don't Like" button. Even Microsoft Teams and Yammer are getting infested with Like buttons so there is no escape from them at work either.
