mcdonalds to close 25 "resturants"

So Maccy D's are closing 25 of its older restaurants...probably the less successful and more expensive to run. They're still opening new sites according to the article so no reason to panic just yet folks.

I dont tend to eat fast food too often anyway, I think I've only ventured into Subway about half a dozen times in my life. I fail to see what all the fuss is about.

my weight is 9.6/7 stone depending on how much i have eaten beforre i weigh myself :)

not fat, but bloody unhealthy. Unless you're under 5 foot 7 stone is stupidly lightweight :/

I don't see the deal with subway, mcdonalds is ok but just tastes like water. I agree about the gravy from KFC though, pure bliss :> Love a double xl whopper with cheese and bacon every now and then though :D Local BK used to do free refills on your drinks too, so it was sweet :)

I also agree about local butty shops being nicer, but sometimes you want a fatty burger and nothing else will fill the void :>

far too many around thats the problem. there are three alone in southampton and all within 3-6 miles of each other too... :o
You can work off all those calories walking between them ;)

I haven't had a tacky mac in AGES. Occasionally I think "I could spend a quid on a burger right now" but it never comes to fruition. Much prefer a good indian/chinese/pizza if we're going to get some "take-out" food. However - healthy lifestyle, here we come!

Feta is not cheese! Its feta! Damn Brits!
Define chese ;)
cheese: noun - a solid or soft creamy food that is prepared from the curds of milk.

Nope, Zero KFC's in the city centre. Shame really.

I think having a McDonalds on either end of Briggate is stupid though.

You people are joking, right? Subway is absolutely bloody awful.

Find a decent small sandwich shop, one probably owned by the person serving behind the counter and then you'll get a decent sandwich, not like the garbage Subway serve up. Commercialised crap in a roll.

K.
I will add to the others in support of Feeks wise words. If you want a 'casual eating out experience' ( ) use your local independant sarnie shop or cafe. Much better quality food and much better value.

50 McD's closing, good, only another 1200 to go!

There's a subway not far from me that turnsover £1k minimum a day. Surprised me.

Not really that much when you consider some McDs can have £1k hours!

Still all unhealthy and you would never see me eating it, anymore.

I had a sub once and never, ever again, horrible bread and terrible tasting fillings and not much of them either.

I would rather sit in Nandos have some proper food and laugh at the number of tracksuits, baseball caps and fat people going into Subway.

Subway are pwning the market. <3

I knew they would. I helped to open the first Subway franchise in the UK in Wolverhampton about 6 years ago now.

There's nearly 550 stores across the country now and they sell 4 million subs EACH MONTH.

The only gripe I had was the price - most were converted straight from dollars to sterling, so a $4.39 sub costs £4.39. Also, since coming to the UK they no longer do the "Patented U-shaped gouge" in the bread - if anyone remembers that? It was a chunk of bread cut out of the middle, so that the filling doesn't fall out. I liked that to be honest, but since ditching that sales in the UK have actually increased.

Now Maccy D's are doing deli style sandwiches. Only they're not half as good.

Nandos? Ewww.....

I know, we'll cover EVERYTHING in pee-pee spice so that people cant tell they are eating the BLANDEST chicken and chips ever...Even the ice cream tasted of pee-pee (yeah, i know its piri-piri)

Portuguese food, from a south african company.

It's chicken in a basket for the new millenium.

There wasn't a Mc'd s in Bangor North Wales for all the time I lived there (18 years).

as soon as one opened (a few years ago) there's mc rubbish everywhere. Even when out Mountain Biking in the middle of nowhere there'll be empty bags and drink cartons.

I want to start a website where you collect up all their rubbish in a bin bag and take it back to them. You then email a photo of the rubbish being dumped in the middle of the floor.

since I've, or shall I say me and the gf have decided to stop eating so much junk, we have started to save some money..!! Mc Donalds is nasty, I feel bad now for all the junk I've eaten over the years...

Well, perhaps they are getting shut of dead wood... Oh, and Subway is still junk food, just that it has salad.. ;)

I'm going to pick up a chicken and pesto and mozzarella in a toasted baguette from an awesome sandwich shop i've recently discovered on Fleet Street.

All my mates went ape about Subway, i've been underawed by the whole fad for getting on for two years now. The bread is not real bread, and the meat is re-constituted garbage. The only reason the sandwiches taste good is by filling them full to the brim of sauces and seasoning.

all you people raving about subway being healthy, it's just as bad, the only difference is subway has salad on.

Burger King > Pizza Hut > Subway > McDonalds

i wish there was some decent small sandwich shops around here, they always make the best food.

A decent kebab (lamb shish or chicken) cooked on a charcoal grill is better for you than a lot of fast food. And tastes great too. :)
