Anyone here work or know anyone who works at Maccy D's?

How much are they paying hourly these days? Just doing a comparison of when I worked there 10 years ago I was on about £3.50/hr. Management wages these days seem to be pretty good if you can hack the grind.

Trainee Manager £18.5k £18.5k
2nd Assistant £18.5k £23.5k
1st Assistant / Unit Manager £20k £26k
Business Manager £25k £40k
Operations Consultant / Field Consultant £35k £55k
Operations Manager / Field Services Mgr £45k £73k
Director of Operations £60k £95k

Nice!...How many years to get that position ;)

God some off you are up your own bums. A job is a job, if no one did this smaller roles in life where would you all be? Who would serve you your food, open the shops so you can buy things.

The list just goes on and on, and fox you worked in retail i don't see the difference my self, and you should know better as i am sure many people on here would have put you in the same class as these workers.

You're right, in most cases I have a lot of respect for individuals working in retail. Working long hours for rotten wages, but in the case of McDonalds my defence is I don't eat there, the food is rubbish and all the workers are chavs.

So what? I've nothing against people who work at McDonalds and never said I did - most are students and its a great way to get some money on the side.

I merely find it very amusing how it appears 95% of the staff on shift at any one time have a badge on which says 'Manager'.

No, actually, you don't know I'm thinking it at all. It would be rather hypocritical of me if thats what I did think as I often visit McDonalds.

I went off to university and some guys stayed on working there full time working their way up. You can get from floor manager to store manager in about 2 years which one guy did, then became an area manager on about £45K. Not bad for age 25 with no qualifications, it's a damn sight more than I earn.

At least the people working in McDonalds are WORKING. Good on them, not my idea of fun so even more dues to them.
Also the term "McJob" was not coined by McDonalds but by a newspaper iirc which was taking the mickey out of the number of graduates finding themselves in McDonalds. Or is that an urban myth. Either way, why knock those who are working, it might not be the best job in the world but I prefer McDonalds workers to muppets who refuse to do anything "beneath" them.

In small stores on quiet days, yeah, that's quite often the case. It takes a minimum number of staff to run the store, and there's an expectation for a minimum level of management in the building at any one time. Hence when the two meet, you end up with managers in working the floor and doing the paperwork etc, because the managers need to be there anyway, so they might as well earn their keep.

It takes between 4 and 6 people to run a store when it's quiet, that's all.
