McDonalds

To us Northerners....we actually have 2 words that best describe our feelings towards Southerners/Londoners but I was being polite by saying cockneys instead of ******** ***** coz I didn't want to start a war of the classess and open up postcode envy discussion.

A lot of us on here are from Stafford/Stoke area as that's where the OcUK shop is, so we are Northerners too. If fact, us lot have our own nickname too - "clay-heads". As we're known for the Potteries industry.

Wow! I'm shocked. I now remember some of these ads. The two serving with the striped blue shirts, the grandpa and the guy with the long frizzy hair. I'm truly shocked I had forgotten about these.

I lived in Newcastle Under Lyme for 6 years matey and still do a lot of business there now through contacts. Is it any better now or still a ****hole?

Good folk in Stoke though. Down to earth families working hard and trying to survive in impossible circumstances with not many opportunities to get rich.

The potteries is dead and buried a long time ago..

How is Longton these days?

Odd. I never saw them advertise pizza? I don't even remember any adverts for it.

I remember them, about a decade ago for a few months. I think it was supposed to be a permanent feature and not just a limited-time thing, but it didn't take off so they abandoned it. The only reason they stoped they breakfast wraps was because of the pandemic and they just ever brought them back

I also remember all the McFlurry and Doughnut rage from way, way back.

Though, McDonalds in 1989 felt magical when Ghostbusters II came out. The Ghostbuster happy meal with the ghost in the can.

Used to go to McDonalds regularly 20+ years ago. Liked the vanilla milkshakes on a hot day. They were sometimes so cold that you could barely drink through the straw. Actually more ice cream like than the McFlurrys. Cinnamon doughnuts were also great.

Never rated them in the burger department. Might be because I didn't have a taste for gherkins at the time. After having some posh burgers with good quality pickles and toasted buns it's hard to go back now though. Even your basic pub can do better burgers with a nicer environment to sit in.

Mmm grilled burgers in the summer with beer as the beads run down the glass in the afternoon or evening. The smell of barbecue drifting about and they are thick rolls in the pubs with no greasy look to the buns. Sesame seed normally. Or the oven baked ones with soft crispy shell. Some good pub food really was heaven. Especially travelling on holiday.

mcdonalds is clearly below my cuisine prowess, i will stick to chicken and mushroom pot noodles which are superior in every way as i need to warm them myself which takes much prowess.

Nah it's all about the beef and tomato Pot Noodle with a dollop of HP sauce mixed in with bread and butter to dip in.
