It has been a bloody day indeed for both the French and the English empires.
Now in all out war with the French I lay seige to Bordeaux, full stack vs full stack, this was going to be hard.
I stood off at the start and destroyed their walls, towers and gate on the first wall, I sent in my Dismounted knights, one unit on the left wall, one unit on the right wall and one into the gate. I moved my general to hug the wall and rally the troops incase some of them were wavering, it wasnt going well so i moved my second line (Dismounted English knights) up to the action, two units on the left and right, one down the centre.
(Look on the minimap for a better overview)
Very hard fighting, proper meat grinder battle but eventually we broke them and forced them to retreat to the second wall and town centre.
I regrouped, I had lost a lot of men at the point and was going to loose a lot more at the second gate
I moved up and got my artillery units in place to blow open the gate and destroy the towers, no real stratagy on this one, just group all my remaining melee units and charge thru the gate. I moved up my archers to target the units that were behind the enemy and after a hell of a lot of fighting I retreated some exhausted units and charged with my remaining cavelry, eventually even my general got stuck in.
It must have taken 1 and a half hours but eventually, England came out on top but at great cost, I need to get these troops retained and ready to go again
Keep in mind that at the start of the battle these were full units (120 in the melee, 80 in the caverly - one of which was totaly wiped out fighting for the centre).
And I can see more battles like this, what with me spotting at least 3 more big stacks like this around france.
