Medieval II - Just got it and it's ace!

Stainless steel or the light mod are the ones I play at the moment, both are very good.

yea im definitely buying it again now! See when you talk of 4000golds worth of enemies and ransoming them, are you taking the gold off them then just executing them? Or is it just u check how much they're worth before you slay them? ...because well ** just evil!
Well after the battle I see how much they're worth but since they're my sworn enemies at the moment (Romans sadly enough being they're supreme over the map :o ) I just slay them all.

What do people think is the most fun nation to play as? I want to play as something challenging, ive been scotland, england, egpyt, denmark and they have all been ok but very boring after a while.
Scotland, Milan, Venice and Denmark are my favourites. Scotland and Denmark as I like to start my games small and build up my empire and Milan and Venice because you have so much gold and power your eyes bleed. :p

Yay I just fixed my main PC! Had to reinstall the game and now quickly rolling through the Portugal (well they've been destroyed for the last 5 turns) and Moors are a cornered rat. Then I should have enough provinces to win the short campaign and then unlock all the other factions.

anbody know anywhere i can download the game oficially? direct2drive is only available for N American customers. really want to play the game but have difficulty finding time to go to shops as i live in the countryside. seems an online vender may have to do...grr i hate waiting for mail order!

I would suggest you dont slay people or villages. If you do so your reputation goes down very fast and soon you cant hold alliances at all and make many many enermies.

To be honest the new version of Stainless Stell (4.1) beats all other mods hands down.

But and this is a big but, the new expansion is out in 3 weeks (dam you BioShock :p ) which looks awesome. And then there is the much awaited Total Realism mod which is expected early next year i have heard.

What's the procedure for installing SS 4.1?

I've downloaded the 1.2 patch, SS 4.0 and 4.1, I've also downloaded a fix for an arrow bug in SS 4.1 and I've read about swapping some of the effects files around so you get the proper language voices.

Anything else I need to do? Seems like a lot of hassle/a badly prepared mod if I'm totally honest...

You install Medieval 2, install patches up to 1.2 and install SS. :p

I am getting bang into this. I've took Paris, kicked **** out of the Spanish & am generally storming Europe
I've fell out with the Pope though & appparently the monguls are coming, I am ****** :p
Great game.

This thread inspired me to install this game and give it another blast. I decided to set it on hard/hard and it is definatly much hard than medium setting, but also more satisfying. I'm on about turn 65 at the moment as England but still haven't taken Edinburgh or Inverness, and only have a couple of provinces in northern France. Seems like every country wants to take a pop at me; France and Milan fighting trying to take back Paris, the Spaniards constantly landing invading forces in Rennes, the Danes attacking Nottingham and the Portugese seem desperate to take Wales from me.

Maintaining my armies is costing a fortune as I am in constant battle and it's abit of a struggle to raise an army to go on the offensive. Fun tho :)
