I'm handling it fine it's just a inconvenience.

Thinking of attacking an enemy with a crap load of siege, totally knacking as many buildings in their base as possible then just routing myself? Would I lose my men or would it be just like a retreat?

Thankfully I started a crusade against the Egyptians a while ago and now the Danish have just brought two full armies which should stop Egypt attacking me for about 2 turns. The Danish appear and I was all happy then the next turn both their armies were practically gone :D

Edit:

zomg :( They came from nowhere :(

I lost every single town. They're totally over powered. I've tried reloading the game multiple times to try win but it's totally impossible. Time to start a new campaign... :o

i'm in a pickle with my poland campaign :/ i may have accidentaly killed the hungarian king and captured their capital and now they are baying for my blood, unfortunatly their holy roman alies are also trying to kill me, and they have masses of troops :p

my campaign gets to turn 16-17 and then in the middle of the cpu having its turn it kinda hangs, I mean I can open up info windows but lose mouse pointer and it never gets to next turn

That happened to me, I had to stop using the no-cd fix. Also, sometimes the turn just takes ages, and you have to wait. it does eventually finish.

If you want I can send you my no-cd to see if that works? Works fine for me.

Just started as Denmark for a change, because the Mongols totally raped my Templar Knights campaing, and already Rome is all over me. My main huge army, full 20 slots, is surrounded by 4 full armies, 20 slots, of Romans :(

Playing as Turks at the moment, corners of my empire are: Gaza, Tiblisi and Durazzo. So I own the SE. About to take Egypt.

Mongols arrived on the 69th turn, took a while but I defeated them, they only have their Faction leader left all on his own. Just about to kill him and now another 4 full stacks of level 6 experience Mongol armies with their awesome Generals appeared.

Considering it is now turn 110 I had thought that once I had killed all the mongols that appeared on turn 69 I would have killed them all :(

God help me when the Timurids arrive with their Elephant Artillery.

Well after running around with my army from the stash loads of Romans they finally cornered me and attacked from all directions... :(

So I pwned them all. Man I love fire archers. Enemies routing all over the place! :D

Edit: Oh yeah, I also captured 4000 golds worth of enemies including one of their faction family members and removed them all from existence.

well after this thread i finally had to buy this yesterday.

gonna get it up and running tonite with any necessary patches etc.

:D

yea im definately buying it again now! See when you talk of 4000golds worth of enemies and randsoming them, are you taking the gold off them then just executing them? Or is it just u check how much they're worth before you slay them? ...because well ** just evil!

What do people think is the most fun nation to play as? I want to play as something challenging, ive been scotland, england, egpyt, denmark and they have all been ok but very boring after a while.

Plus does anyone find it hard when you have taken over too many cities? All the managing you have to do its annoying, i find myself not wanting to take over towns and stuff and just sit back with a small group as its easier to manage.

Play with the modification - do not play with the standard game.

Funky nations - talking from the Long Road perspective, Denmark are excellent all round. They have strong cavalry and field a variety of powerful units

HRE are awesome - probably the best faction in the game, but they start out weak. Strong heavy cavalry and strong two handed units.

France - best cavalry in the west, but weaker infantry especially earlier on.

Poland, fantastic knights and a nice variety in medium cavalry. Horrible starting location.

I think the Mongols and Timurs are probably the best nations, but they are unplayable!

As for spreading your nation too wide too fast, slow it down. Dont worry about the goals of the game in the first instance.

The standard game was a little unfinished and is very easy to win on. You need the modifcations to slow the game down and make it more tactical. A game on stainless steel can take 3 times as long as a vanilla game, making the planning all more important.
