Mediocre claims to fame

I was given a maths lesson by none other than Carol Vorderman.

ITV had a kid's quiz show called 'On your marks'. Only lasted one season. Unfortunately it was due to be filmed at Leeds when a flood took out the studio & there wasn't space anywhere on the lot to move it. So because our school had a full size theatre auditorium (that our school used as a dining hall) & could serve the power & space requirements for a TV studio, the school allowed them to film there & Carol popped in on a few maths lessons and took over when they weren't filming.

Ah i have also met carol vorderman and got a selfie with her

Oh I've thought of another obscure one Pete Postlethwaite used to drink in my friends mothers bar she owned in Bristol and I smiled at him and got a nod back.

Oh yeah I got off the same train as him at Birmingham New Street.

Was once at the driving range, fine tuning my then decent golf game.
Became aware that someone had sat directly behind my bay to watch. Turns out it was Sir Geoffrey Boycott.
Had a little chat about golf and cricket, and he was very complimentary about my golf swing. Which was nice.

Also said hello to Gerwyn price in Meadowhall. He was with his family. He just nodded.

Tiff Needell drove me 3 laps round Thruxton, although I paid for that so not sure it counts. Nice guy and insane driver.

Ken Block was testing one of his early Gymkhana cars in the UK on an airfield near me.

We found out and went to watch. As he was leaving he stopped to chat with us and signed some stuff.

Mediocre you say, I live next door to an ex Jockey. He won a few reasonably big races and was the best apprentice of the year a few decades back.
Never became a household name, ended up going abroad to race for the Arabs who had insane amounts of money.

I work with a lot of celebrity kids (some of the biggest Hollywood celebs too), so therefore end up spending a lot of time with said celebrity parents. Used to stay in a few of Dubai’s top hotels where inevitably there would be celebs, mostly footballers. It was a bit weird at first, but it’s just normal now.

Forgot to mention (I wonder how?) that I went to a rugby game with a good mate who’s neighbour, Tony Tobin of Ready Steady Cook fame, joined us.

Chris Eubank, Sophie Raworth, Lizo Mazimba, Andy McNab and our favourite, Anne Widdecombe did talks at our school. I listened to and walked past all of them

Met Ed Stafford (TV explorer) who was a quest motivational speaker at a work’s team building event.

Lovely bloke with some equally amazing and terrifying stories of his exploits are the world.

Louise Redknapp's dad once attempted to attack me with a toilet he'd ripped off the wall. He ended up smashing it off my shield into his own face.
I worked in a coffee shop as a teenager around 2000-2001 and once served Jamie and Louise Redknapp. They lived in the same town as me. I remember being incredibly nervous carrying their tray to them in case I spilled something.

I remember she was really short. And fit. I definitely remember that.

My girlfriend at the time worked in Boots and the hot gossip there was that someone sold her a morning after pill. Scandalous!

She was in our coffee shop on A-level results day and gave my friend (female) a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Jealous…

Though I don't consider this mediocre, which is why I didn't think of it.

Had a drink with Royston Vasey after a show.

He came into the bar afterwards to get a drink and he intended to retire back to his dressing room. I was at the bar and sincerely invited him to join myself and my friends, not expecting in reality for him to accept. He did and he spent about an hour with us, bought a round & it was just general chat, not expecting him to perform at all and it was great. When he left he said something that was so simple yet so full of meaning

"Thanks lads, I needed that, thank you for seeing me & not Chubby"

People often hate on him because of his character but I can say he is just an honest, down-to-earth guy and the hate does get to him.
