ROFLMAO

The top 1% are the biggest TAX evaders in the U.K, to the grand sum of 80+ BILLION each year!

Read the comments section on his link. There are a few good comments there and a few at the bottom. One rich person is going to "leave" the UK with thier millions.

Most likely Monaco as i hear its nice there.

Those against piracy. Do you ever use your PVR and record off Film4 etc?

There is an old fossil in my office that does exactly, records a lot off his TV and then burns what he records on to DVD. He has no intention of binning the DVD in time, but instead stores it in one of his DVD folders. He is totally against piracy though - after all it is theft in his eyes!!!. Go figure. Download a new release or wait a few years later to record it off the TV it makes no difference. It isn't a lost sale in most cases.

out of curiosity do you watch the advert breaks on tv or do you skip them/change channel/leave the room to make tea etc?

Not really sure what that has to do with this?

But I'll bite.

My Kitchen and living room is open plan, so I'm never going away from my TV if I made a drink. So I'd say, yes, I watch adverts, unless it's when I've recorded something on Sky+ I would fast forward through them.

You remember what happened when they tried it on with the non doms?

cost the HMRC a huge amount of tax revenue a year when they ****ed off instead of paying the hike.

there's only so much you can take from people before they say enough is enough.

I hear Satan himself has a yacht parked there. He doesn't employ people though, he has his little minions manning the poop deck and swabbing the floors.

What a horrible man.

Do they not know piracy can be transferred by emails, so does that mean they will be shutting down emails? Does that mean they will stop selling blank CDs/DVDs? Does that mean they will stop making USB storage devices? Does that mean they will stop any form of post with electronic items in?

Piracy will carry on. Shame they do not realise that, yet they have to ruin things for others.

These companies get a cut of blank DVD and CD sales to compensate them if any one does use them for "Piracy".

I agree and its sick that they jump ship. There will always be one little crap country that will give them a free tax ride and they will go live there and then travel to work in the UK.

You can work in the UK and live abroad and still pay no tax. There are hour restrictions of course but its minimal on the jet setters as they dont work 9-5 all week.

The graph does not show that these people take money out from the UK without paying tax.Hell the amount virgin media saved recently was a joke.

CEO of Turner Broadcasting (CNN and others) said that skipping the advert breaks was theft.

As watching those adverts is how you pay for the tv programs you're watching.

Just thought you'd be interested in the view.

"Because of the ad skips.... It's theft. Your contract with the network when you get the show is you're going to watch the spots. Otherwise you couldn't get the show on an ad-supported basis. Any time you skip a commercial or watch the button you're actually stealing the programming." Jamie Kellner

em actually no, they stopped working here all together and so stopped paying tax here.

cost something like 22 million pounds a year.

Funny how he's complaining about the heads of businesses jumping ship and they should stay and give all their monies back to the state so that more money can line the pockets of MPs so they can have holiday homes abroad is hilarious :D

BTW what were those URLs published on the twitter/blog type entries online? They looked like some sort of redirect service so I'm presuming that if you click on them, you compound the problem for the victims?

Well putting aside the fact that I don't watch any of Turner's UK Channels.

It's his opinion, but it's not really theft.

I pay a TV Licence, a Pay-TV service subscription and I'd be interested to know exactly how many hours of advertising I do actually watch each week on TV and online.

I don't think TV watching habits have changed significantly from the VHS days. People still watch plenty of TV live, it's what I do when I just flick the TV on. The people wishing to advertise have already paid the fees to the channel and will still get the approximate audience predicted in the sale.

People still recorded programmes and skipped through them in the VHS days, so it's not like there has been a sudden big change there.

If you watch shows online or via mobile devices, you can't skip ads.

It's perhaps also different in the US because are there not some systems that will record and miss out all the ads?

Unless you enjoy your art through X ray, and chemical analysis machines there are many counterfeits that exist that you would never be able to tell the difference.

But as soon as you know it's a copy it looses it's magic, unlike knowlingly downloading a movie or song that is identical to the origional the fact that a painting is origional makes it what it is as evidenced by the slight difference in price for an origional compared to a top quality fake.

Obviously if you did not know it was a copy you would enjoy it jst as much just as if given a high quality fake DVD you may not know that it is a fake.

The photo example is still much more accurate and try going into the photography sub forum and suggesting it's perfectly ok to download and use someone elses work even if it's just as a pretty background on you desktop and you'll get a lot of very strong opinions and if you then say several million people are going to download and use it you will get even stronger opinions!

but if you're arguing against piracy from a moral perspective it's very hard to say it's ok to skip the adverts, as that is the "cost" of ad supported tv.

any half devent DVR will do it.
