Nevermind. Once all of these sites get taken down we'll all be given cheaper films, games and music because piracy won't be eating in to their profits as much? :rolleyes:

no? because every download = purchase at least thats how they count them up

put it this way if i couldn't get the movies i want i wouldn't watch them at all

and if i really like a movie i buy it just to keep the dvd and my fave movies in one place.

Do they not know piracy can be transferred by emails, so does that mean they will be shutting down emails? Does that mean they will stop selling blank CDs/DVDs? Does that mean they will stop making USB storage devices? Does that mean they will stop any form of post with electronic items in?

Piracy will carry on. Shame they do not realise that, yet they have to ruin things for others.

Its just like the war on drugs. They cannot stop it, no matter how hard they try and how many resources and money they throw at it.

This tbh. Coupled with their obvious lack of any effort to remove obviously copyrighted content made it a certainty eventually.

YouTube is completely different. You won't see top movies to download on YT because YT will take them down, this was probably not the case with MegaUpload.

You can pirate via e-mail, but it's a poor method, it's hard to build a community where people can just download large files on the fly.

And no to the rest, they aren't going to stop making USB devices, if however people started selling USB devices with pirated material on them, they would stop that.

I think the sopa protest annoyed some people.

A site that large does not just vanish, they had big bandwidth and datacenter. They probably just got raided and shut down by non corrupt government officials. The wikipedia article was updated pretty quick, which is a bit suspect. They may still come back, i think.

That song was catchy though, the megaupload song.
