MegaUpload has been shut down

It's littered with Copyright material.

As for the "there will be other sites like it" argument I'm not so sure, who is going to put the effort into these new sites if they get blocked by the piracy police faster than ever before? (note: I'm not sure how long the process takes with these new powers?)

there are NO NEW POWERS yet.. SOPA is not yet approved.

No but they've already started shutting sites down, I've seen sites (live streaming) as far back as last year taken down by the FBI.

SOPA if passed will bring it to a whole new level and now they're already going after sites like Megaupload.

they always did shut something down.. all those p2p apps were bombarded.. its not new :) but yes with SOPA it will be normal.

I wonder if were going to have the samething as what happened with acs law?
Wouldn't mind reading department of justice emails, would be intressted to see the amount of communication between the big companies and the so-called impartial goverment is.

This is the thing that's starting to bug me:

Kim Schmitz, and three others were arrested Thursday in New Zealand at the request of U.S. officials. Two other defendants are at large.

I know there are diplomatic relations to think about, but why are so many countries/governments/foreign agencies bending over and taking it up the chocolate Starfish from the US? Just look at the Richard O'Dwyer case; that is really ***** up!

America... world police...

I can imagine this is only the beginning. Universalmusic.com, justice.gov and now RIAA.org have been taken down by AnonOps. If the government can just take down a site like Megaupload.com where do they stop?! Are they going to take down Youtube.com because some people upload copyrighted content?!
