It is involved I agree, but what I listed is only the process for paint correction which isn’t a regular thing. Maximum I would say is once a year, but reality is to just do it when the paint needs it.
I'm not criticising, just trying to make you aware that the biggest risk you're taking isn't necessarily the paint thinning out from over compounding or polishing, but more that the compound is going to lift the contamination into whatever media (applicator pad/cloth/polishing pad) you're using to apply the compound/polish and you'll then be rubbing that contamination into a wider area.
This will scuff up your clear coat over time - it might not be noticeable on lighter paint shades such as white but it'll be there.
The Meguiar's polish looks pretty much like their version of SRP , would be interesting to know how it goes on.

can microfibre applicators be put in the wash, up till now I've used non-lint cotton flanelette , cloths, where once polish has dried out I put them in a +80C biological wash,
with a big cloth you can easily move the contact patch onto a fresh section when they become impregnated with product.

Yes they can.
This is the reason why I bought Meguiar's Ultimate Compound in the first place...
It did a good job of hiding it but you can still feel it which is to be expected with any type of surface scratch.

A vehicle of some sort, can’t tell you exact make/model.
I've found the best way to still see the scrape is by shining a light on it. In this photo I held my Android phone with the torch function on and shone it at the car then took a photo with my iPhone...
I'm shorted sighted and wear glasses for distance vision and I have to take them off to still see the minor blemishes and if I don't shine a light at all its practically invisible.

Went down to my car just before and noticed a little mark on it about 2 to 3 inches long. So firstly I tried water with a wash mitt no luck, then shampoo and a wash mitt again no luck, then I tried Meguiars Ultimate Polish with an applicator pad and it got it out.
So I’m glad I’ve bought the polish now as I would have gone straight for the more abrasive Ultimate Compound before, it’s true what they say start with the least abrasive first.

I've created a video of this with my iPhones torch switched on while taking the video, instead of using my other phone to light it. Looks pretty minor and I still think the best way to see it is in my photos above...
Megiuars Ultimate Compound did a pretty good job on it but in future I'll use their Ultimate Polish first.
