Men's Olympic Football Tournament ** spoilers **

I think it is unlikely GB will have a football team for any future events, they only did it this time around because:

1) We didn't need to qualify so they didn't have the headache of trying to fit GB games into the already hectic calendar
2) Home Olympics so from a presentation point of view it would have looked a bit ****/petty if we didn't field a team

As for "making GB official on all sports" it isn't as simple as that people there are far too many disperate organisations each with their own agenda. Literally dozens and dozens of bodies across all the sports/nations and getting agreement from everyone won't happen EVEN if the political ramifications could be dealt with at a central level.

So really the only solution would be to diverge into seperate home nations and I'm not talking purely about sport here, scots are always moaning about Britain (sweeping generalisation), the English resent what they perceive to be propping up the Scottish economy (public sector etc), Wales have their own assembley or summat, so lets just split up and be done with it, then there is no confusion.

Of course it isn't that simple either, which is why the status quo remains :)

Am I right in working out that Uruguay need to beat us by 3 goals on Wednesday in order to come second in the group? I'm assuming Senegal will beat UAE.

No, they just need to beat us, regardless of the Senegal score. They only have one point less than us.

(Not sure what the order is based on if level so if UAE beat Senegal it's possible Uruguay could get away with a draw)

And make that another, 2-0 to Brazil....think this has mauling written all over it.

Brazil are a class act and if these players make it to the WC in 2 yrs time, i think a lot of teams should be looking over their shoulders.

I much much much prefer the style of football Brazil play over teams like Spain. Its actually entertaining and exciting with some ebb and flow to it. Watching Spain play in general is just mind numbing these days; I am actually quite surprised that the other team bother making an effort against them.

I like the way Spain play at times, they were a tad boring in the Euros this yr but then they didnt play with a recognised striker like they normally do but watching Spain pass the ball as they do is simply sublime.

Whereas Brazil are just pure awesome with their attacks, they have never been much of a defending team, its just the way they go forward and score goals. Its like they say to the other teams, go on score a few goals and watch us score more than you lol. I absolutely love the way they play and always have.

Its got to the point where their passing is just boring now. It doesn't go anywhere 95% of the time and the other team just gets browbeaten into a mistake. Its not entertaining watching a team defend like hell for 80 minutes only to get beaten because Spain are fresher after exerting themselves less. Teams have figured out how to play against Spain and the tactics to beat them are not pretty and make for a crap game of football in my view.

They do play some really nice stuff at times but I honestly don't bother watching them anymore unless its a really big match. I much prefer the current German style of football and of course, Brazil have always entertained.

I have found the BBC website incredibly difficult to navigate with regards to finding Olympic football scores

It is. The sports player is brilliant but they have made it a lot harder to find the key events from the main page. I tend to head down to the little grid of yellow icons on the right hand sidebar, click on football and you tend to get what you want then.
