Mercedes launch thread

The big flaw in that claim is that it uses exhaust gasses. It cant. The rules state all exhaust gasses must exit through the exhaust pipes, and exit in the prescribed area.

It could be using the air channeled through the sidepods though, but with such a glaring mistake in the claims you have to question how much else is wrong or just made up.

Typical testing press.

yea i think they exagerated on the exhaust gasses as i doubt they could manipulate them to go to the centre of the diffuser area lol..
there are 2 pipes visbile in the engine cover though which is unusual?

they are aparently from the gearbox and kers cooling

Not that unusual. Most teams (possibly only with the exception of RBR) use the air flowing through the sidepods to cool the gearbox and KERS and things, and then exit it through holes or vents in the rear of the engine cover.

Be interesting to see what this actually does? As the double diffusers worked with moving air out from under the floor, which this device dosn't.

i know its not unusual to have a hole in the back of the engine cover.

i mean the two visible seperate pipes are unusual

(ignore the arrows someone was trying to guess how air would reach that hole, and as you can see at the time this photo was taken the duct part wasnt in place, but the cutout where it slots into is)

maybe the duct doesnt directly blow the hole but it creates positive pressure above it..

its clearly not there for looks
