Probably a 2nd hand 1080 would give similar performance or better. Might be worth considering if EVGA won't help you.
Useless advice, the OP had made it clear they have a G-Sync monitor and they don't plan to change it.

I'm Leaning towards a MSi Ventus 2080 (£650) or a MSi Gaming Z 2070 (£550) on sale with some Steam vouchers, if that helps.
If they refuse to take it claim on house insurance as it should cover it? I know my house insurance does anyway
