Metro Awakening release date

That's unfortunate, I've just bought it on the Meta Store (well, pre-ordered as it's not yet available), hope it runs ok. That video review posted by JonRGV250 above doesn't fill me with much hope as I don't like loads of canned dialogue and cutscenes etc.

Are the graphics and general feel as good as HLA?
No. IAM about 2 hrs in enjoying the gameplay and atmosphere. Some of the gfx are good but a lot look awful with low poly count and textures straight out of an N64 game. Performance is poor too.
This is the steam vr version btw.
Its like if half life alyx had a stroke and lost it's bowel control.

Performance is really weak in this.
Having to use low resolution scale with 4090 and PSVR2…
The game is still fun and perfect for oled screens.

Well that's great. The game crashes on loading every time. Doesn't matter if I try Steam Link, Virtual Desktop or Meta Link.
Tried all the suggested fixes. Oh well. Guess I'll play something else until this is patched.
For me it wouldn’t start in vr under windows 10 but works fine in windows 11.

Playing it native on the Quest 3, mostly because I am in a lazy mood today and cant be bothered to get it running via steam, however, its running fine for me on the Quest 3. Some of the textures are a lower res but frankly I dont notice it when I am playing, gameplay wise its Metro. Plays much the same as the other Metro titles, which is what I expected. Havent had any bugs or issues, either technical or performance wise. Certainly seems to me that the native on Quest3 is in a better shape than the Steam vr version

Performance wise I'm having no issues running on virtual desktop, 4070 super and get a solid 90fps
Graphics wise the scenes are really good but the textures of people etc are very low. It looks like they have just directly ported this from the quest 3 version without upgrading anything.
I'm a couple of hours in and enjoying it, graphics wise HLA is a step above and more

I've finally got this working - it does not like any additional OpenXR layers in the SteamVR settings. This includes things like eye tracking, foveated rendering, and the OpenXR toolkit.

I'm getting a decent framerate, though if you try to push the render resolution up past the default it starts stuttering (On a 4090!).

As ScoobyDoo says, it's obviously a Quest port on PC, with pretty low res textures in places, but otherwise the graphics are reasonably decent and does a good job of conveying that Metro atmosphere. There's fog everywhere which plays a bit of havoc with the Pro's local dimming - it prevents it really getting dark. Definitely one to experience on an OLED headset.

The limited gunplay I've tried so far is good, though annoyingly you have to pick a dominant hand in the settings, making your non-dominant hand the one for getting the backpack, injector, etc. I wish it allowed you to freely switch hands like Saints and Sinners.

It's certainly a very atmospheric and scary game. The first proper mutant encounter had the hairs going up on my neck.

Tried it this morning, the way my head had to exactly target the decline and accept buttons during the loading screens to select 1 of them had me searching the net on how to do it, not a good start. Then I finally got into the game, the graphics aren't good, it runs at native Q3 resolution and it looks poor imo. Such a shame because it was using barely more than half of the Q3's GPU power at this resolution, so obvious it's targeted for Q2/Pro native, why haven't the devs atleast gave the Q3 version a resolution bump which is easy to do, Batman looks better. Couldn't get QGO to alter its resolution, I just don't enjoy games with poor visuals it ruins this immersion for me so didn't play it long, refunded.

That is not good. I would have hoped that the gameplay would have overcome any graphical limitations. But I am surprised that such concerns are noted with a title that I had expected more from. Perhaps more so as the few YT'ers I watched some time back compared this to HL Alex, in terms of visuals at least, IIRC. Sometimes I do wonder about such content on YT.
I would have hoped the Steam version might have improved things, going off the mixed reviews I guess not.

The main reason I went for the Steam version (apart from it being significantly cheaper) is the Quest version is running ASW and sub-native resolution.

At least I can play this (after working around some silly compatibility issues that don't happen with any other VR game) and it doesn't have that blurry sub-sampled look of most native Quest games.

The gameplay might be really good I didn't play it that long as I just couldn't get past how it looked. I am admittedly a big fan of graphics and I am a graphics snob, I appreciate others might not be and they might be ok it with how it looks and just enjoy the gameplay which by other reports is good. It just disappoints me that 1 year after the Q3's release we're getting 'AAA' games that don't use the Q3's power, a resolution bump specifically for the Q3 is a few lines of code, we know the Q3 can have better visuals than this like in Batman.
