Metro Last Light - Thread

I noticed the smoke moving and the debris from the walls and explosions while I've been playing. It definitely adds to the experience. The lighting and light flares are really nice too.

Loved it, loved the first loved the second, bring on the 3rd! (wishful thinking)

i think the more atmospheric was probably 2033, but last light had its moments too, i think the constant partner aspect though lightened the mood so to speak.

boobies ^.^, also.. took about 8 hours first playthrough which is about right for todays genres of fps. but yeah i really really enjoyed it :) Also ran flawlessly on a 7850 with no slowdown or crashes, even on very high 16xaa, so chuffed with that, well done on 4a, they optimised it superbly

I bring you news from the Hive

- Metro 2033 MMO is being worked on but for Russia only!
- The DLC I linked to before is the real deal and fits in nicely with the story that 4A are releasing a Season Pass; 5 Missions and an SDK
- The Multiplayer prototype is planned for release in 6 months, but 4A and Deep Silver are considering whether it will be beneficial to release MP.

Did anyone get the Good Ending then?

I really couldn't get into Metro 2033....I have it on my PC and tried it a few times and just didn't like it.

But after reading the user reviews on Last Light I caved and bought it and I absolutely love this....not sure why I see this differently.

because last light catered for the western audience who like shooting stuff and easy stealth gameplay, last light isn't on par with 2033 which is more superior.

in your opinion ;)

I am enjoying this game far more than all of metro 2033, not because the stealth is easier nor because there is more to shoot, simply because it feels more polished overall, the guns actually feel good and like they do damage unlike in metro 2033 where it felt like my bullets were made out of rubber. To top it all of, better sound/audio, better graphics/lighting effects, run betters, nice little touches i.e. the blood splatter on the gas mask and being able to wipe it off, better animations and most importantly the AI is better (still not great though) etc. etc. etc.

Superb game, great atmosphere, lovely looking, really nice weapons feel, decent amount of stealth.

Model collision needs looking at and in some places AI could be better.

Overall 8.9 / 10

Did anyone else have issues with monsters freezing? Sometimes they would just be sitting there, head following me round the place but not moving or attacking. Just had to restart a checkpoint 4 times to kick a big one into life.

I had this problem yesterday, but with human enemies rather than monsters. Even after shooting them they continued to stand there. I tried a stealth kill on one and it started the animation then crashed the game.

I ended up moving on and the AI seemed to sort itself out at the next stage.

You make it out as if its a completely different game, that was completely remade to cater for an audience that like shooting (its a FPS game) and Stealth.

When it isnt....its very similar, but with a more polished feel and better shooting mechanics (allthough not perfect).

Story or Atmosphere wise would be down to personal preference.

I will give 2033 another go after I've done this, as the story has grabbed me now, which I felt Last Light did a better job in the inital stages of the game.

I't sucks how much extra immersion you get from that physX if you have a Nvidia card
= ( ATI why u no have this! or at least there own version looks like I'm going to be missing out on all that extra eye candy.

And then have all the fun of getting hybrid PhysX to work, only for nVidia to block it again at the next driver release.

There's no technical reason why it doesn't work, just nVidia being gits.

That said, I'm thinking of doing the same thing, subject to a successful test using the nV610 from my HTPC. can you get a single slot nV640?

I have just got to the catacombs but getting wierd gfx rendering issues....i know it's not my card either as other games are working fine and using 320.14 drivers did any other Nvidia users here encounter issues?

Edit: After searching around it seems having Tessellation set to Very High can cause such issues.

I had some weird texture corruption in parts too. Tried other games and I was fine, and if I restarted the game it went away.

No issues here on the 320.14 beta drivers.

Still loving this is 3D, shame it plays in 3D at about 30-35FPS on very high with a 680GTX. But I've been unable to turn it off now i'm hooked!. This I think is the first seriously well optimised FPS for 3d Vision.

The stuff that sprays onto the gas mask in a fight or when you get cracks and holes in it really makes you feel like you're wearing it not to mention all the dangly stuff like chains or plant roots as you walk along. Oh and how can I forget the monsters getting up close and personal :p

3D is a bit of a gimmick with a lot of games but if it can be done as well as this in other stuff they really are onto something.
