Metro Last Light - Thread

Why is this not available in Game? Paying £35 I'd rather have something I can install from DVD rather than probably blowing 15% of my broadband monthly usage limit. Also having a bit of an issue with corrupt download files at the moment too so parts of download end up retrying.

has this game got a preference to a particular graphics card manufacturer? will it run on max with a gtx 680? anyone played it in 3d yet? thanks

Well the game is sponsored by Nvidia but from what I've heard, AMD cards are running it fine since the patch.

I'm using a 670 and have had no issues at max so far. Can't comment on 3D as I haven't been able to justify the 3D pack cost yet.

It's on Tesco for £29.

Since you are saying the download is corrupt I'm assuming you've already bought it though so too late asking??

Ah cheers, didn't spot that on Tesco.
No haven't bought it yet, I mean I have a general issue with downloading of large files at the moment. Not sure what's causing it but seems to have occurred since a OS reinstall but that might be a coincedence, could be broadband or router or wifi USB device. I can no longer get nVidia drivers from the website as it's always corrupt but instead use a Nvidia tool (Experience) to update the drivers which for some reason

Have run virus checks and all fine.

Sounds like some memory corrupt, does it crash much? I had the same problem it drove me insane downloading games 2 or 3 times before realising.

Constant corrupt data is normally a hardware issue and not software. I'd be looking at your HDD, RAM or Motherboard. Try doing a Memtest on the RAM , search on google. Try copying a very large zip or rar archive file from a DVD to your HDD or from one HDD to another. See if that causes problems or corrupts.

A fresh start could help, completely format the HDD and reinstall windows.

Is your CPU overclocked? Could be a too harsh overclock. Is everything setup correctly in the BIOS?

There are so many things it could be but I'd suspect the PC itself and not your router etc.

Finished this last night. Really, really enjoyed it. Excellent atmosphere, use of music & at points the graphics were absolutely stunning. I think the character models, collision detection & physics could use a little work but mostly it was a fantastic experience that I think I'm going to repeat on Ranger mode & with Russian dialogue.

same here

2nd run is using sweet fx, 3d, russian dialogue, english subs, I want to get the second ending.

Just completed it, great game bit short but that's tottally understandable seeing as the amount of detail they've put into it.
Best looking visuals i'v seen. Did actually make me jump a few times and not many games/movies can do that.

8.5/10

Took me 8 hours to complete, great game. First time I've paid for a linear FPS and so I had to go into it with that in mind and it did not disappoint. The story was amazing and I can't wait for a sequel if there ever was one (a few hints lead me to believe there may).

Will start another playthrough on ranger mode tonight.

Playing this with everything on max, except SSAA which is off on my KFA2 660 OC and my 650 OC running Advanced PhysX.

Ranger Hardcore ****ed me off, why they changed it from the way it was done in Metro 2033 i don't know, but the fact i don't know whether i'm selecting my grenades, throwing knifes etc annoyed me a lot, and also the disapperance of the hand notification for interacting with various things. So i restarted and went on Ranger Normal and i'm enjoying the game now.

PS: I actually thought Ranger Hardcore was bugged when i couldn't do the same things Ranger Hardcore mode let you do in 2033. It seems Ranger Normal is what Ranger Hardcore was in 2033.
