This is why teams and drivers employ proper managers who don't get hysterical after a couple of weekends. So called 'fans' are always swift with an emotional response to get rid of a driver, when the correct answer should be to question which driver could deliver a better outcome in the same machinery.

Vettel's a very good driver who's still got some learning to come. He definitely has quite a few limitations but given the right equipment and circumstances he can work around them very effectively. His errors this year have appeared laughable, as they're magnified by him competing at the front and they've been repeated, but he's clearly very competent and, at times, brilliant.

Ferrari clung on to Massa for years but now are suggesting that Vettel should be sacked off after two poor half seasons? Right...

The best way to answer it is to test it with young drivers - Sebastian is way after his prime at this age of 31, with last title five years ago, and with four unsuccessful years with Ferrari already.
Most managers are very incompetent and their employees suffer with different problems, so...

Ferrari should give the seats to young drivers with the future in front of them, not to old dogs with history ;)

Next season will be a big test for him I think, Leclerc is young, smart, fiesty and hungry, and he's already shown he has impressive racecraft. Could we see a repeat of his time at RB with Riccy? If so his time in f1, at least the top end of the grid, could very well be numbered.

I don't think many would consider 31 to be past their prime, especially as a 33 year old has just won his 5th WDC. I also don't think that many would consider Vettel's four years at Ferrari to be unsuccessful. He's definitely had some challenging times, both with his own decision making and also the performance of the team and the car, but again the question should not be who do you get rid of but rather who's going to deliver better results.

I disagree - I don't think that Arrivabene is very incompetent. He's certainly not completely proven, but he's also sharpened Ferrari's challenge significantly.

Thrilled for Hamilton. An amazing stat.

Looking forward to next season. Mercedes seem to be struggling, red bull might be up there if their new engine works, Leclerc adds something to the mix if he is allowed to race.

I feel sorry for Ricciardo - especially since he is going to a Renault powered team next year.

It would be even better if the obvious trolls here were banned.

Feel sorry for Ricciardo seems to have all the bad luck, wonder if it is like McLaren where they had engine issues because they package everything more aggressively?

Renault have had engine issues but not as much as red bull.

I am interested in the package perspective. We know that the Honda wasn't working well in the 'size 0' concept and we also know that adrian newey loves a refined and minimal car profile, i.e. tightly packaged. Will the Honda have similar issues as the Renault?

Congratulated Lewis in a classy and genuine manner when he came up during the post-race interviews.

I like this about the drivers. In the moment things always get heated and they take flak for it (comments like whiny, sulking etc): but most of them are true sportsmen. I think vettel earned a lot of respect in that moment.

This 100%. I've no idea why they're tolerated in here. Without them there are some interesting discussions.

The problem is that they also bait other members resulting in the mature majority sometimes getting in trouble. The obvious trolls just need to be banned from this section. A lot of people don’t even bother posting here anymore because of them.

He also went to the Mercedes garage after the race and congratulated Toto, Bono and the mechanics personally. Say what you want about his wheel to wheel skills, he's a genuine guy who respects his competitors.

Off the track maybe, but on the track... not so much. Maybe he's building relationships in case any vacancies come up soon...?

I don't agree with that. F1 isn't football where physical injuries take hold. What drivers lose in speed they make up for in experience. Vettel needs to (re-)learn how to drive wheel to wheel.

Hostory say's your very wrong. Mansell was 39, Prost 38 when they won titles, Schumacher started winning in his Ferrari patch at 31. I can find loads more...

I gave this one a 4. Another attritional tyre race where it felt like everyone had to hold their pace back even more than usual and no one could really make any moves. Plus the end was a bit of a damp squib.

Then there was the Will Smith and DJ weirdness from Liberty...

Did not like overall.

+ Max won, great performance from him.

-Tyres were utter crap
-Ricciardo out due to reliability, AGAIN.
-Will Smith? WTF.
-DJ (again) WTF.
-Short track = lots of traffic.
-1st lap was anti-climatic.
