I love watching the races but find the drivers conferences and Teds notebook really dull. Brundle, Button and others commentating from fast corners on practice sessions, more of that please.

Same, most of the time I turn it on just as the formation lap starts (sometimes even miss the actual start) and then turn off before the podium. Tried to watch Ted's notebook few times towards the end of last season but not bothered this year.

This season started with so much promise. The first few races were quite good with Leclerc and Max trading blows and never knowing when each of them's car would blow up.

Then Red Bull just sailed off into the distance with their race pace, reliability and tyre Deg and no one else stood a chance. Then it's been like the Lewis Bottas years with Perez posing zero real threat to Max.

I just hope the Mercs can equal the RB car wise as I think they have the best driver line up to challenge Max if the machinery is almost equal.

Just watched a short clip of Max being interviewed, where a journalist asked about RBR's, Checo and his decision not to speak to Sky anymore. I thought Max's comments were pretty fair tbh, he spoke calmly and maturely. I'd probably feel the same after an entire year of hearing the same thing. The media knows how much power it has and how easily it can stir up social media etc, one of the disadvantages of modern day.

I saw Ted made some "quirky" comments whilst interviewing Lando too, which the latter didn't seem so pleased about.
Ted Kravitz is a complete knob, surprised anyone wants to talk to him.

If that's all it takes to get to Lando then kiddo needs to grow up, get some harder skin, or bugger off.
That was the softest of softy mcsoft ball questions and he took it thick.

What's that got to do with Lando's response which you were having a meltdown over in which Lando doesn't really say anything.
Heh....a meltdown?....Your right..I have had nothing but sleepless night about it, dear lordy help me.

Its easy to measure really..all ya have to do is " If Hamilton did that", he would be crucified.

Only caught up with this via the replay last night. Dull as dishwater.

If there was a tyre made of granite that would be Mercs first choice. They always seem to prefer the hardest of hard tyres going back years now. Not sure why they have such an aversion to the soft or a more aggressive strategy. Remember this was a race where they said they’d happily sacrifice a car/driver to help them get the victory.

Nice recovery from Dani Ric. Which showed that the strategy Russell wanted was a decent one. Track position wouldn’t have been important judging by the way DRS worked and dani ric was between 1-3 seconds faster than than Bottas, Noris, Ocon etc on the softs.

Shame about Alonso. He really should be miles ahead of ocon in championship by now yet seems to have the lions share reliability issues. A bit like Ricciardos last season at RB or Schumachers Mercedes.

Merc strategy is almost always dodgy. Red Bull almost always do very well with strategy calls, and it nets them a huge amount of points in doing so.

Merc need some new strategists.

I always get the impression that they rely too heavily on 'data' and 'statistics', ignoring real world feedback from their drivers or the unpredictability of motor racing.

I voted a 6 but thinking about it, it was a bit rubbish yeah. Probably should have gone with a 5. I think initially things were shaping up for a good tactical battle between Merc and Redbull, but I just felt overtaking was so limited on this track, even with the DRS. I don't think the double helping of DRS gives us the best racing coming out of turn 3. Dunno.

It's easy to say Merc should have stayed on the mediums for as long as possible then assessed later whether to go for a shorter soft stint. On another day, the deg would have been higher and they might have reeled them in forcing RB to change to softs or an on track battle towards the end. It's nice to see the Mercs where they are now back challenging, but the Ferrari lack of pace is concerning. Brundle was saying he wonders whether they had their engines turned down due to some issues they were having. The Ferrari just looked unstable through those S sections though which won't have been helping.

I feel also Merc missed a trick with using George to hold up Max. With Redbull, they have utilized Perez before to hold up the Merc. It may not have worked well on this track with such a long straight but it may have been possible. They could have left George out long going into 1st place on mediums splitting the strategy, possibly holding up Max and giving themselves more options. In the end it was a bit safe from Merc and it does feel like neither Lewis or George will have many team orders going forward to "help" each other. It's interesting what George was saying about that he would rather come in 5th than 2nd if it meant 5th was an attempt for a win. I can't remember the exact words but basically they want to prioritize getting a win for the team in the races left. Mexico was an opportunity to do that with Lewis by sacrificing George a little, but I think Merc chose to place George as high as possible for constructors and to not upset him with such orders.
