Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 announced.

Just pre-ordered Premium Deluxe version from CDKeys on MS for £78.49 would have preferred the Steam version but it's and extra £25.50 and it's unavailable to pre-order at the moment.

There's a firefighting plane in 2024, preordering makes it immediately available for 2020. Not that there are any fires to fight.

That's literally the only benefit other than preloading, but there's obviously no point doing that until very close to launch.

Does anyone know, if you buy it on steam do you still have to go through the hassle of getting an Xbox/Microsoft and login with that etc?

I have one because I have Minecraft, but I prefer steam, but I won't get it on steam if you still have to fanny about then logging into Microsoft's thing anyway.

If Steam just directs me to MS ill refund lol

Sorry for all the crappy questions, but I assume then this version:

It says

Xbox Series X|S/PC (UK)

This is the one you can register on the Xbox app thing on PC and play on your PC? (like minecraft)

I hope so, because the standard version that I've pre-ordered has the same description and I don't have an Xbox.

The xbox/PC options are all 'play anywhere' so work on both. The 'PC' one is Steam.

Is the 'xbox play anywhere' / 'XBOX/PC' platform option the same as the Microsoft Store version? I have never used the xbox app before.

I am considering the Steam version this time as I have not made any paid marketplace purchases.

Basically, yes. "Xbox play anywhere" means you pay for the game once but have access to both console and PC versions ( using the Xbox app / storefront ). A Steam license will likely just allow access through that platform only.

I don't fly in MSFS often, as I find the physics model a little off compared to DCS.

Hopefully the new physics and aerodynamics model will be a significant change, but I'm waiting for reviews before I decide if to purchase or not.
I'm going to test the waters via Games Pass first. After that, and several months of patching/ user feedback, I'll decide if I want to purchase a copy or not.

I think i'm just going to jump in from day 1. I'm sure bugs will be ironed out by Asobo/MS quickly and devs will rapidly update their add ons (if required) to work with the new platform.
