Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 announced.

What do you reckon guys?

Fortune and glory, or crash and burn?

Do you lot increase the TLOD and OLOD or leave both at 100, have a 7800x3d and 4070ti super, can't seem to decide where best to set.

Anyone with this card or similar specs found a good optimal setting?

Far too many variables to answer that in any meaningful way. Resolution and expected frame rates being the most obvious, but other significant ones being what sort of aircraft you fly and where.

For what it's worth, I have TOLD at 200 cos I hate the obvious scenery pop-in otherwise. However that's in VR with a Quest 3 and the hardware in my sig.

Does anyone have the aviator edition or own any of the included older planes from 2020? Do they run ok? I haven't committed to buying 2024 yet and can't make up my mind which version to get. There are quite a few interesting looking aircraft in the aviator package and I don't own any of them but if they are buggy and unlikely to be updated or fixed it probably isn't so much of a bargain.

Dunno what has happened but performance for me this weekend seems much better was there a patch ?

My graphics settings had been reset but I've put back up to where they were so it's not because they had reset

I have a 8gb card and in particular VRAM usage seems lower

Yes, and it's a mixed bag. My advice is still to wait on the sidelines until MSFS 2024 is fixed ... give it 6 months at least. Seriously. It was released in such an awful state.

Yea it's not in an Ideal state.

Career mode especially, don't get me wrong when it's up and running properly it's a great addition to the game, gives you a real sense of purpose.

But unless you go your research and play it in the few known working ways, it's like 70% broken.

I am going wait until they get the marketplace working. I want to see the prices for upgrading between versions, if possible this time. Also Jorg said the premium and deluxe aircraft will be available for purchase separately so I want to see what the price of those are. I assume it will be the same as buying frequent flier or historical aircraft.

I have the PD version of 2020 so I am considering just getting the standard version of 2024 and buying extra aircraft if I need them.

I also don't know how many of the extra PD aircraft will be available in the career mode when they get it fixed. I am sure some of the default aircraft such as the TBM will be updated.

I signed up for a month of Game Pass to see what 2024 is like. TBH I didn't have many problems with it but it does feel like it was released before it was finished and tested.
