**** Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Thread ****

Just had the shipping confirmation - apparently: "A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status will be updated."

I guess we'll see but I'm hoping it'll arrive by friday, monday at the latest!

Same here, tracking details are finally up for both the cover and Surface, both waiting on the same step as yours.

You will all get the new type cover before me. :p

I still hate Windows 10. I had to lookup a hack to configure a VPN to disable the default gateway. Easy in 8.1 requires a powershell command in 10 at the moment until its fixed.

10 is bad on SP4. Crashes sometimes after sleep.

Windows Hello, the fan silence and the screen are very nice however.

The big windows 10 update coming tomorrow (hopefully) might help with the crashes.

Do you get firmware updates using windows update?

Yes, but standard figure of 8 cable so just swap it and keep the USA one for traveling.

The Core m3 has a different charger with integrated plug, but i5 & i7 are two parts.

I forgot to ask the name of the 'shop' you got it from?

Not sure if it's related but: https://www.reddit.com/r/Surface/comments/3sb8nk/finally_a_solution_workaround_for_surface_pro_4/

Turning off Windows Hello might help with the crashes during sleep.

Well... this is shipping out a lot faster than expected... Was expecting Saturday or Monday originally, then Friday from the despatch email, but now it's suddenly turned into tomorrow :p.

Waiting for the type cover to come in stock at JL... going to go for the i5/8/256 version I think. Is it expected for TH2 to fix the problems with the Pro 4, I thought it was more of a feature pack rather than bug fixing pack?

What will you be using yours for @Supercow?

I am wanting to use it for Visual Studio, Photoshop and Premier Pro so i7 should handle it nicely with 16GB.

Much the same as you I suspect.
Visio / Enterprise architect / Office / Light Premier Pro work / Note taking in meetings (which im pretty terrible at and hoping a fun way to do it will make me better at it)

I looked at benchmarks for the Skylake i5 vs i7 in the SP4 , and the differences are negligible. Same applies to RAM - since I won't be dealing with massive PS files and the like, I decided to go for this mid spec one in stead.

edit: M3 version of the SP4 ... doesn;t do all too bad in gaming surprisingly - I'm particularly impressed with Skyrim

@Supercow thanks for the information. Interesting you mention the differences are negligible between i5/i7 and 8/16gb ram.

I was thinking the extra oomph from the i7 GPU would aid Premier Pro hence was wanting it plus usually run multiple apps.

I will probably get the i7/16GB version as I would like to run VMs. My Pro2 has served me well in that regard and the increase in memory is a primary reason for upgrade.

The screen is awesome, really bright, loving the pen, but still setting all the things up. Sound quality from the speakers is better than I was expecting and the stand is nice and sturdy, even on my bed. Loving the new typecover, keys are nicely spaced and the backlight is non-intrusive. Even the charger is well designed, there's a USB port on it, so you can charge things like your phone etc. First impressions - well worth it!
