**** Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Thread ****

After using it for a week, i'be not heard the fan again, must have been an isolated incident.

All in all, i'm very impressed with the device. However i have noticed the material on the right hand side edge of the type cover have started to wear already. Its hardly been used, and i'm going to take the cover back for an exchange but have has anyone else had issues with this?

So I had a play with a iPad Pro/iPencil and found the writing experience on screen so much better than my Surface. There is a definite friction difference between the 2 screens and I'm wondering if using a screen protector might help improve the Surface.

However, I suck at installing large screen protectors and wouldn't know whether this will help anyway. Anyone got any experience / recommendations to pass on?

Having a few issues with Remote Desktop with this. I have to RDP to work and the icons on my work PC show up really small, also having the same problem with a few programs including VLC player. Anyone know of a solution to this?

I tried both the iPad pro and sp4 before purchasing and the found the latency to be almost identical. I found the sp4 to have a little more friction which imo makes it far more usable. I believe it was designed with this in mind

Seriously considering a SP4 but I am rather concerned about the battery draining even when in standby mode which makes the Battery Life woeful!

Has this been fixed?

I think recent updates have improved this a bit, my i7 model has been pretty good so far, the wake from sleep blank display issue hasn't happened in a few weeks.

That would be the DPI scaling. Right click the exe file for VLC and go to the compatibility tab, then uncheck the "Disable DPI scaling" option. Not sure for RDP.

Dock arrived today, time for some extra screens :)

The weight of it is excellent, it won't budge from my desk.

Two weeks of using the SP4 full time and its been excellent. i7 desktop has not been switched on.

Many thanks, will give it a go.

On another note does anybody else have an issue that the screen doesn't turn on from sleep. I can see somethings happening in the background as the FN light comes on, I can turn CAPS on and off and the red light on the camera comes on, only managed to get around it either by holding down the power button or using ALT-F4 shutdown. Surface is up to date.

Other than that I'm loving it, need to get a dock soon though (and a new screen or two).

I disabled hibernation on mine about a month ago and haven't noticed the not waking up issue ever since. May or may not work for you.
