*** Microsoft Windows 11 Thoughts & Discussion Thread ***

I see they still haven't solved the problem of Windows 10 or 11 randomly deciding to switch the default audio output device, sometimes after an update or a hardware change of some kind sometimes completely randomly, and/or changing it when a new unknown audio device is connected... the only fixes are clunky messing about with task scheduler to detect the switch and set it back again :(

Just turned off and then back on again one of the monitors connected to my both my Windows 7 and 11 systems while I had a game running on the 11 system and it automatically switched to playing the game audio on the monitor speakers in the middle of the night...

Absolute clown show.

At first I thought Windows 11 was just a slightly different Windows 10, but 11 has been so much worse. In an age where plenty of people don't need a desktop/laptop, I'd have thought Microsoft might do better.

Though there are some areas of improvement overall it seems to be a buggy reskin of a buggy fork of 10 and sometimes when loading gets deferred you'll even see UI elements dating back to 95 or older before the 11 UI renders over it.

Couple days here on 23H2 and no issues to note. Still funny how Device Manager remains pre-windows 7 style of UI and theme, that really does need an update to dark mode.

I'm starting to hate Win11, first it was a learning curve going from Win10 to 11 a few weeks ago, everything was different and it took me awhile to get use to the new locations , more bloatware etc but the worst thing right now is Windows says not activated? WTF?...The key is already entered and all I get on troubleshoot is " we can't activate Windows on this device at the moment. You can try activating again later". Error code is " 0xc0000022" .

The key appears to be already in from the System tab under product key. So don't know what to do now.

Btw the Win11 Home is legit from a well known online pc site, can't put name here for obvious reasons. I have contacted them anyway to see what they say via help form.
Anybody else had issue like this?

Activate using the automated phone service, it ight think your key is being used twice or something. This is nothing new and has happened on Windows since XP.

Microsoft could not get it work their end, they said your key is legit but not working for some reason, been passed on to second level after they transfered me to the wrong place, still waiting for 40 miuntes plus now.

Are you on 23H2? there have been some activation issues if you activated in 10 then upgraded to 11 since the change to prevent new activations of 11 from 7/8.1 keys and as mentioned above with some volume licenses.

Yep version 23H2 but clean install of Win11 Home on new PC using Samsung 980 Pro NVMe.

No activation watermark in bottom right end corner however.

I'm starting to have more and more slowdowns when I open 'This PC' having mapped network drives sucks balls.

I got it sorted in the end even Microsoft could not fix it remotely after me waiting 2 hours on phone, all keys they tried gave error on activation, in the end I had to reinstall Win11 with my legit default key which worked fine, having to reinstall all my apps now, lucky most of my stuff is backed up, btw think it was 23H2 Windows update that broke my activation, back on previous build for now, what a hassle that was.

This 23H2 is causing mayhem in our ICT department for the trust I work for. We recently migrated to Windows 11 and all is fine until 23H2 silently gets pushed out to Windows 10. When users are encouraged to update their devices via Windows Updates and they just click everything including Windows 11 23H2 for enterprise. Then getting tickets about Office 365 saying to buy a licence and Windows activation on my desktop.
Nothing on the internet is documented I can find, surely we cannot be only ones having this issue.

I wish our insfrastructure team pull their finger out and update the images on MDT so we dont have to constantly upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11.

We had to block 23H2 from installing it was causing the volume licence to deactivate once updated to 23H2.

Wont even install for me... Click download and it stays at 0%, then says failed

EDIT Fixed :

Toggle on Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available. If this is toggled off, you may get an error when you try to download and install the update.

Just realised the Outlook app they keep pushing you to when you open the default mail app, doesn't work without an internet connection...
Really great for laptop use, when needing to check an email quickly.

I don't want to use the proper Office Outlook app. I just thought that in 2023 the e-mail app the OS wants you to use would be semi-capable.

There are some sporadic reports, mostly seems to affect volume licensing and/or people who've bought cheap keys which are possibly mis-sold volume ones. I guess not a lot of people have the update yet.

Only problem I've is can't change "Windows Display Language" from English US to English UK in "Time and language" (when I click on it nothing happens), prefered language packs have both UK and USA grayed out so can't select UK, so can't change it there, it does have English Australian, Irish, South african English etc but not what I need, I did manage to change keyboard layout and local region to UK however. Buggy Win11.
