It only actually installs it once but this update still seems to have some issues and has been republished several times due to MS screwing things up.

Tbh I don't even look at windows updates any more.. It only gets updated after I've told it to sod off several times and I finally reboot...
.. by which point hopefully any errors have been fixed!

Not that you can probably be bothered to troubleshoot that as MS will probably get around to doing something eventually, but if you run 'Get-WindowsUpdateLog' in powershell do the logs that get save to the desktop give any hints to why that's happening.

Difficult to decipher exactly what is going on but it seems to be a mixture of the update having been superseded and the update cert having an invalid date.

Interestingly there is a line in there: "Skipping printer driver 2 due to incomplete info or mismatched environment" - wonder if that is related to the incorrect HP update mrk mentioned above :s

I’ve started ignoring manually looking for updates now. I leave the systems to do their thing. By this point things like this should be resolved.

It gets annoying manually updating stuff all the time.

I have actually noticed that before with some updates, that they'll download and then not install due to them not being compatible. It's almost like the checking if a file needs to be downloaded bit isn't as sophisticated as the install bit or they make a mistake when adding the update file to the list of available updates.

Like it seems they've done with that update for the security platform, someone at MS HQ seems to have flagged it as normal update instead of one that's been superseded so it seem to keep downloading it only for it to fail when it comes time to checking file versions and cert dates.

If you are going to install KB5032288 might be worth doing it manually from USB media or similar - looks like through Windows update the installation gets slowed badly for some reason by amongst other things the malware protection engine, though not the only reason.

After upgrading to 11 a few months ago I was indifferent about it, not good, not bad vs 10… but after the latest update with the new explorer I’m regretting it. Really buggy, have to keep manually killing explorer process and relaunching when it locks up

That's odd, not had a crash yet in windows 11 explorer.
My windows version is 22631.2861 (Windows 11 23H2, PRO)

Not had that and I have been on 11 for well over a year.

It was fine for me until the new file explorer in the 23H2 (Nov 23) update. Now on all 3 computers I use, even on a completely fresh Win 11 install file explorer will decide to randomly lock up (tab icon just shows loading symbol indefinitely and stops responding) on folders with a large amount of files. Happens to me at least once a day

Weird. Is there a common program or something you run on all 3?
Unfortunately not, it even happened on a completely fresh install without anything else installed and not using any external / network drives. The only common variable seems to be folders with a lot of files but the old file explorer didn’t have a problem. If I downgrade back to Win10 or a build of Win11 before 23H2 it’s fine

I must admit on my laptop for work its running Windows 11 and if I hold a folder open and minimised it will randomly pop up on screen when I am doing other things.

This has always happened since it was updated from Windows 10 to 11.

No external HDDs connected or USB sticks etc, so annoying when typing or reading something.

It just appears, its happened when I have not even been at the laptop. I can be away from my desk having lunch then suddenly it appears! lol

Never had that bug personally - but I do heavily tweak File Explorer right from the off, disabling quite a lot of settings and messing about in the registry with things like removing One Drive from the navigation pane, etc. etc. so maybe one of those has bypassed it.

On a different note I picked up a Lenovo Legion Go cheap through work recently - Windows 11 really doesn't do that device any favours especially when it comes to battery life :( I bet if I went to the massive effort of getting Windows 7 running on it I'd probably get close to double the battery life for stuff like web-browsing, etc.

I have Windows 11 on my desktop and do not have the issue but do on my work laptop, its very annoying lol

I did have a look at the time of this starting but could not find anything on it, ill take a look at the link.

Wonder If I can download just the fix and run that as our IT controls Windows updates and what ones are installed
