*** Microsoft Windows 11 Thoughts & Discussion Thread ***

Running the latest build, some of the changes are meh.

I don't like how they've grouped some icons in the notification area - previously to change from one sound output to another you left click, then click the output you want to use.

Now I click the volume & network icon combo, and get the following: volume bar, vpn button, night light, and alarms only. Basically nothing you need is in there. I understand what they are trying to do, but unless you can customize how you need it's awful.

Another oddity is Outlook, clicking it doesn't open/maximize it, I have to click on the outlook icon in the notification centre to get it up from minimized.

Everything seems stable though.

I've got Windows 11 almost completely the way I want in VMware, only thing that's broken is new built in start menu, you would have to use your own. For me startisback version 2.9.15 at least in Windows build 22000.120 is working perfectly. I would like to use both menus as I do constantly in Windows 10 but I'm more than happy with that compromise for now as the new menu is absolutely crap.

I've also got the classic right click on the taskbar menu back, not that stupid "Taskbar" options button and right clicking on files/folders I have the proper right mouse button menu back and not that useless oversized menu (that has been fully disabled) and I get the far more useful Windows 10 explorer bar back.

If you use Winaero Tweaker 1.30.0.0 and enable the classic start menu it will revert Windows back to the way it really should be.

Been using as daily now for a week or two, all going fine. New start menu is better, once I adapted to the changes I have not really found anything I miss. :)

My old snipping tool has gone, but they did say they was going to remove it at some point. I think I may have even grabbed it back from windows 10 at some point. But it's gone again now.

Looking again new version has been installed 12/08/2021 oh well!

Not sure which snipping tool you referring to but it might still be on your PC if it is the one I am thinking of. Go to C:\Windows\System32 and then scroll way way down the list and see if you have SnippingTool.exe there ?
