Someone at work just explained a way to cook chicken thats suppose to be really good, healthy and quick-

Put frozen or normal chicken breast in a bowl
Fill with boiling water so it covers it
Cover bowl with cling film
Microwave on full power for 8 minutes if frozen

Im presuming about 6 or 7 minutes if not frozen

He said the chicken then cuts like butter and tastes great with some spices.

Has anyone ever done this, it sounds interesting at best

im really weary about cooking my food especially chicken so i *** stick to the oven...but go ahead and try it, if ** not online tomorrow, it didnt go too well lol

Oh god no! Poached/steamed chicken is evil 'healthy food'! You need it cooked properly, i.e. under the grill or in the oven so that the skin goes all crispy and you can make real chicken gravy from the fat. :)

I might try it anyway. He asked him if it went like rubber and he said suprisingly not. (as long as you dont overcook it)

No it's not, just needs to be used in the right dishes.Use skinless and put it in curries, Best way to do chicken for curries. But that's because you need a strong flavour sauce for poached chicken, but it's so tender and moist.

hmm how long you think for 800w for unfrozen chicken? might pick some up in an hour on my way back from lectures

It's not a regular Microwavization (it's a word now!) of chicken, it's poaching the chicken, the water will keep it moist rather than cooking it dry.

Only 8 minutes for a frozen chicken breast? Even in a microwave i wouldnt trust that. In my opinion, the only thing microwaves are good for is veg and maybe scrambled eggs (oh no, not that again!)

I wouldn't say that. 8 minutes sounds about right. Microwaves produce an incredible level of heat, especially when it's boiling water very quickly.

Might try it tonight along with corned beef hash a la johnny. Or maybe tomorrow morning before i go to work

I know ill cook the chicken tonight and save it for tomorrow when i go to work
