Can anyone name some mid-size Coupes for me? I can only really think of a Nissan 200SX and a Honda Prelude. My budget would be around £3.5k to £4k. For this reason a 3000GT wouldn't be suitable. I'm looking specifically at Coupes that are competent motorway cruisers. Thanks!

Rover 820 Vitesse Coupe?

Quite rare, but can be had for under £2k most of the time.

LOTS of toys, LOTS of power.

I want one :(

BMW 320 E36 coupe? *BMW Pimpage by stig* should get quite a decent spec for 4.5k not to expensive to run and shouldnt kill you on insurance either :)

Lots of rubbish as well, come on, he wants something half decent.

What about a 406 Coupe perhaps?
BMW 328i Sport?

Hardly Fox. The 800 suffers from electrical failure due to dry solder points on the back of the fuse box.

Nothing a bit of electrical experience can't fix.

Plus, the value for money is fantastic.

It's a love it or hate it car mate :D

Fox wont love it, he has his pair of BMW blinkers on.

for 4.5k you can get a much better model than a 320, which tbh, is poor even as a 6 pot.

:D

800 Vitty Coupe + 17" Vitty wheels + Zorst + Suspension + Tints = Almost as pimped as a black man in an M3

The Rover isn't the sort of thing i'm looking for, but thanks anyway.

Pug 406 Coupe, will certainly look into that one (once Parkers starts working again :o )

Not so sure on the BMW 328 though, that would be an E36 right? They look a tad wideboy for me.

But it's a sofa on wheels not a Sports Coupe. Do not confuse value for money with cheap - it is not value for money, merely cheap, becuase it's an ancient car from a defunct manufacturer.

That you like such a sexy car, that has an electric system from hell, i though you would favor the more back to basics idea of an older merc for example.

It's not that bad Fox. My Dad doesn't have a problem with taking his 800 on winding country roads.

The 800's don't handle as bad as everyone thinks.

Anyway, the OP asked...

Not a sports coupe. Therefore, the 800 fits the bill perfectly :)

Here lies the problem. My journey to uni is half motorway, half Welsh back roads. Ideally i'd like something that is good at both really, i think my current car does this quite well but it's getting a tad boring as it simply isn't fast enough for me anymore.

Unfortunately, the Rover just isn't for me. Sorry.

Ah - assumptions. ;)

Actually, on the subject of Mercs, you could pick up a good condition 500/560 SEC for £2-2.5k and insurance isn't that bad.
