***Mid-Week Football Spoilers***

Not much you can do when you're reduced to playing two midfielders as full backs and a third string centre-half by the second half, and Gilberto is too ******* useless to cover the defence with any kind of competence. We didn't look bad when we attacked at all, it was just our back line that let us down. I can only hope that the Ivory Coast hurry up and lose soon, we desperately need Kolo back (and Eboue now too). What with Gilbert injured too, and fat Sol being bloody useless, we've got barely anyone left. Might be time to recall Hoyte at this rate.

I can't get over how utterly useless Gilberto is at the moment though. At least when Pires and Freddie are crap we can simply play through the middle, but when we're down to playing out-of-position kids in defence, we really need the midfield players to help out and provide some cover. Diaby managed a few tackles last night, but Gilberto did nothing but fall over and daydream about his WC medal. The sooner Diaby gets completely comfortable in the first team, the sooner he can **** off to the bench and we can play a combination of Diaby/Flamini/Cesc. Maybe he'll pick his ideas up then.

Cygan is poor and Senderos is no better tbh.
To be fair to Senderos, I don't think it helps that he's barely played with Djourou, and him and Sol just don't work well together. Either of them work fine with Kolo, but not together.

I think an untrained chimp would do a better job than Souness, probably have more tactical knowledge ffs

I missed MOTD but read the beeb match report. Seems we had a fair bit of possesion but did Sweet FA with it. Story of the season to be honest.

<sigh> Here's hoping we can last the season and start a fresh in the summer.

This season is becoming more and more depressing. What's worse is that Robhino and Co have found some serious form while we've got steadily worse. We need a large amount of players back from injury and match fit in the next 3 weeks as well as remember how to play attackign football. I really don't rate our chances at the moment :(. Just hope we can hang on to 4th spot.

Real, although no longer the same team as they were in my eyes, will still pee all over L'Arse.

Also you'll have to be in 4th before you can hang onto it. :p

If we have out first choice 11 out i would rate out chances as very high but it's not likely we will.

I meant hang in for not hang on to.

Well considering Lauren may be out for the Season (rumoured, certainly a month) It could be 2 years without our First choice XI ever playing together. That must be some kind of record. :(

I will admit that was a good result for us last night. We didn't play the beautiful game, only had about half-a-dozen shots at goal and scored with 3 of them, but we did defend well. Benayoun's goal line clearance from Pires probably stopped us throwing away the win, but it was a real case of hit them on the break, score and dig in to defend. After Henry pulled it back at the end of the 1st half i thought it would be game over in the 2nd, but we did well.

1) 3 soft goals conceded
2) VDS had a shocking game
3) Why did Ronaldo start ahead of Park??
4) Why did we not start with the Premierships top goalscorer and our best striker??
5) Robbie Savage is a ******* muppet.
6) Rio unlucky to be sent off, I didn't hear a gun shot when Savage went down though, so Rio must have used a silencer.
7) Why can't Ferguson get it through his thick ******* skull that we need our first team to start every ******* game!!

Ferguson **** off now please!

Yup

Fergie doesn't care about form, why else did Scholes play all of this season until he literally went blind?
4) Why did we not start with the Premierships top goalscorer and our best striker??
Because Saha knocked a few in against lesser oppostion in the Carling Cup Ferguson decided he was better than Ruud. In fairness Ruud did look very ordinary in the last match but that wasn't helped by being partnered with Saha. At least Fergie has now realised that Rooney is completely wasted in midfield.

Yup

In fairness Rio was extremely reckless and I was more annoyed with him than any other United player on the pitch. If we'd had 11 men a comeback may have been more likely. If Rio was unsure with the VdS incident he should have headed clear, not tried a nod back.
7) Why can't Ferguson get it through his thick ******* skull that we need our first team to start every ******* game!!
Because CQ hasn't been giving Fergie his alzheimers pills. There's just an unbelievable lack of common sense displayed managerially these days for us. Chelsea are suffering a small period of less than imperious form and we could have picked up important points. People keep saying the season is over and they're far out ahead. Well the gap would be a damn sight smaller if Fergie would take all of our Premiership matches seriously and cut out the losses due to experimental or just plain insane team sheets.

Ferguson **** off now please!

Hmmm.

Ive noticed Carlos Q giving a lot of post match TV interveiws of late , Ive also seen him quoted regular in the press.

Is this Fergie refusing to face the cameras after poor displays or is he slowly handing over the reigns?

Fergie doesn't give interviews for the Beeb any more, he still does on Sky.

What tells you that Rio was unsure?

He nodded it back without looking to see where VdS was, didn't call to let him know he was nodding it back to him, then at the end shouted at VdS as if he'd expected him to be standing on the goal line. In fairness VdS could have averted the whole disaster with a shout, but as a defender your first job is get it clear and don't try anything cute if there's any danger. i.e. hoof it away.

If in doubt, boot it out!

Every good defender knows that.

1. Looking to see where your keeper is with your back to goal is impossible.
2. I'd have torn strips off VdS in the same situation because he was the only player at fault in that situation.

As a defender your job is stopping goals and averting danger from the opposing side. That would have been exactly what happened had VdS done his job, by either staying on his line where he should be or telling his defence he was coming off his line for the ball.

I don't like Rio, but he wasn't at fault for that goal.

Thats just the point. There wasn't any doubt in his mind and he was right not to have any, if his keeper hadn't dropped him in it we wouldn't be talking on the subject.

^^ I couldn't agree more. VdS had a poor game and I'm sure he knows it.

As for the team selection I'm as stunned as anyone. AF must be thick if he didn't realise that Blackburn have improved a lot. We've played them twice before recently and they gave us a tough time. What made him think they'd suddenly go downhill after 5 days?
