Middle aged life

Couple of other musings from me... as middle age moves towards old age. Lots of stiffness everywhere, apart from the one place you actually want iti!:eek::eek:

Leading on to the fact, that the only activity you'll be doing two or three times a night is getting up to take a pee...

46yo here, planning on living to 92, so definitely in mid-life now.

We're mortgage free in 107 days. That's 16/01/27. We've been so focused on the financial side of things for the past decade, that I've lost track of what I'm wanting to do beyond a certain dollar amount.

We have a big world trip coming up next June for about 6 weeks, but I cannot see that being a long term solution. My brother retired at 41 and spent 3 years racing around the world to get away from himself, and ended up becoming a bus driver in a small Dorset town, just to keep busy.

Maybe I'll get back into building PCs.

I turned 40 this year and everyone at work was adamant I was having a midlife crisis because I bought an M3 but I don’t agree because my previous car was an M5…buying a less powerful saloon car can’t qualify as far as I’m concerned.

I have started doing regular exercise for the first time though which is probably more like it. Worrying about my mortality and trying to fix 40 years of poor choices to claw back some extra healthy years :D.

The earlier you make the change the easier it will be, nice going on making a start.

I turn 44 today! Time to start my midlife crisis and go out, buy a sports car, get on a yacht and sail around the world with all my hoes and a **** ton of drugs!

Oh, wait - my 2 year old is waking up… :D
Happy birthday.

Yeah too old for that business, does sound like you need a recent European uni graduate to live in as a nanny though.

I hit 55 this year, so I am well past midlife unless AI somehow finds a way to cheaply extend the average human lifespan.

My crises consist of buying the latest GPU's that end in '90 and going on holiday - just came back from 4 weeks in Zanzibar/Nairobi :D

Had a 25 year old say she thought I was under 30 last week. And another early 30s say I looked about 30.

OK, I probably don't look 40. But there are some grey hairs. Usually I assume people are lying/being nice. But she said to my friend she thought he was 50 and genuinely looked shocked when I said I was 41.
Maybe she was blind or something?

I think my mental age and clothing takes off a few years too.

I'm prepping for my Mid life crisis to happen in 2027

The young do have terrible eyesight nowadays :)

I think mental behaviour often comes across in how you look, if you act and think like an old fart that's exactly what you look like.

Have the mental age of a youngster and you always look younger. Think it's in the eyes.

Not sure it's your age people question when you rock up in pink leggings :D

Main thing I've noticed is I can't pick something up off the floor without making a noise.
As you get older the same noises you made when you were younger are now for aches and pains rather than doing anything enjoyable.

Your biggest challenge will be dealing with your wife's menopause/post menopause which is the gift that keeps on giving.

Wifey seems relatively happy although the HR that she's on has been linked with brain tumours in France recently. She seems pretty stable although she gets annoyed at idiots faster which is funny to watch.

Before it was pretty much a week written off to pain each month, including hospitalisation repeatedly. When you're called into the recovery room because you're the only one that can calm her down. There's little support for women in that situation, and even less for the partner who spends years being the rock of stability - you get on with it, cope, no avenue to vent, and it's taken years to recover (loose term).

It's so hard for women to get a repeat prescription for that sort of thing, I've lent sachets of my HRT to women who are struggling to get an appointment with a doctor so they can get through because I KNOW what:

A) The anxiety of running out of medication
B) The impact of hormones bottoming out and running on NOTHING.

It's awful.
