Middle Earth: Shadow of War

How does this game fair against Shadow of Mordor. I played that a lot a year or so ago but got bored towards the end (Probably because I did so many side missions). Is it better than the 1st?

Act 4, first fortress and I can't bring myself to load it up.

I don't chase 100% on games, I play the story and can't see 10+ rounds of fortress defence worth a bit of an added ending.

The shadow wars section has been drastically shortened since one of the patches in the past months. It's only three rounds now if I remember rightly, and only the last one had more than one defence to get through

The original format did sound a real grind, but the new one I found actually quite fun and not at all drawn out.

Hmmm, so Elven precision is potentially the best sub skill out there I reckon (well, very strong), but it appears the description is very poor. Apparently it's just like shadow of mordor, so one button push per attack, should make every attack a critical. Add in a sword that heals for 30 health per crit (and a good % of life steal) and suddenly almost every hit should be replenishing a large portion of life.

Worth picking up in 2020? I enjoyed the original but had no desire to play the sequel if it was made artificially grindy to sell micro transactions..... As things stand is the base game better than the original (I don't mean longer, I mean a better experience).

You can get it for £3.40 off key sites, i'd say it's well worth it for that.

if you can get it for £3.40, buy it, play it for a day and you'll get all the fun you'll ever get out of the game. it was so grindy. I rushed what i thought was the last bit just to get it done and learn the "story", but then i discovered what i thought was nearly the end was probably only about 60% through it and gave up. I didn't enjoy probably past the 30% point.

i wish the team would make another war of the ring game tbh

I loved it, much better than mordor. Got a bit grindy towards the end, but you could have fun with it, and on the harder (not the hardest, that was insane) difficulties, it stays challenging.

Don't be afraid to run away.

I still play occasionally but it's now getting to the point where every group I come across has half a dozen captains and it's a nightmare to kill any of them with so many Orcs around! As advised don't be afraid to withdraw and hide though!

Unless they're all arrow proof, drag one to you (preferably out of range of the attention of the others). Select plenty of area of effect special powers. Maybe ressurect dead to bring back all the guys you've just killed, give them more targets.

Maybe just hope on a drake and burn them? Never really got the hang of creatures.

I've not even seen any Drakes yet, but I do like possessing Graugs though. They're fun to stomp around on.
