Midweek Football; 27-28th January - *SPOiLERS*

To a degree you can understand it a bit with Torres because he needs to be brought in gradually with the injury he has had. We had the same problem with Giggsy a few years back and we always rushed him back then he would be out again.

Fair enough when he came off vs Everton but he's since had a full 90 minutes in the FA cup so his hamstring can't be too much of a concern.

As i said earlier, he was talking with the Doc as he came off so maybe he did have a knock.

That said question marks must persist about Rafa being the right man for the job. People can go on till doomsday that Liverpool don't have enough money but regardless of what you have, I don;t think Liverpool will win the league under his stewardship.

David Moyles and Martin O'Neil have proved that it's not all money money money. Chelsea will have our pants down if we dont improve. Wonder how long it will take before the Rafa out begins.

No idea who David Moyles is but O'Neil had had more money than Rafa has to spend since he took over at Villa.

I'm actually wondering if Benitez is engineering this shambles on purpose! I'm another that has tried to remain faithful but his decision making during games is shocking. Is the guy actually wanting out and trying to get sacked? He is certainly going about it the right way if that is the case.

Amazing finish from RvP considering he's been waiting 92 minutes for just one half chance. That's a true indication of world class ability, one chance, one amazing finish whilst under pressure from thousands of Arsenal fans. Decent result, don't know if Arsenal deserved a point though, hard to say Everton deserved 3 so a draw is about right ..

Pool fluked the first half of the season and now they are running out of that luck!

Hopefully chelsea rip em apart on sunday, they was lucky to win last time a deflected shot :@

Certainly. I don't want to make any predictions just yet but he consistently reminds me of why I've doubted him in the past. In fact I've ever said on here in the heat of the moment that we'll never win the league under Rafa, I hope that doesn't turn out to be true but if we don't win it this season then what?

Im as ****ed off as any Liverpool fan with the way the last few weeks have gone but some of you guys are being hysterical. Had somebody said that at the end of January we'd be 2 points of the lead, albeit after playing a game more than the leaders, most people would have laughed.

@Dazza: not an excuse. What andy said was just simply wrong.

not really a good enough result for arsenal although everton are a good team undoubtedly. does that make you 8 points off the top with united having a game in hand?

Thing is, I dont blame Lucas because I know thats what you get for using someone like him in your team.

The person to blame here is Benitez for playing him in the first place. He obviously thinks this young lad has what it takes to be a first team player in a club thats been "trying" to mount a seriously challenge on the title.

The problem with Benitez, as it has been since he arrived, is he thinks his players are better than they actually really are.

Agree with that. It's the 'no one person is bigger than the club' scenario over again. You either aim to win the games or not we have been playing like we want to draw. We should have put the game to bed by half time. With a slender lead you want to keep as many attacking options on.

Can't tell you how frustrated I feel watching that rubbish for the 4th game running.

It isn't good enough considering that the result was somewhat complimentary. A very, very average (or even poor?) performance, definitely not a performance of top 4 quality. If Arsene doesn't buy at least 2 players then this is going to become a common occurance, there just isn't enough quality in the midfield and the worry is that Wenger doesn't seem to realise.

Right now RvP is single handedly saving Arsenal's season, he has been an absolute class act and I don't think it's unreasonable to call him the top striker in the country atm.

EDIT - RvP is consistently showing that if he's given even half a chance he can threaten the opposition goal, it's a shame there's only one good pass a game going to him. If Wengers smart, he'll buy someone with a bit of presence in the CM spot, somebody who can actually tackle and looks like they're interested and to wrap it up nicely another midfielder who has the ability to be creative and feed 1 or 2 good passes up front per game. That may see a vast improvement.

I don't think it's that. What I truly think is that if the press **** off a player then Benitez will play them to prove a point. It was the rotation issue last season where the press were slagging him off for that and it's this season it's going to be 'tinker man'. If you have a winning side you leave it alone. If the players are literally exhausted then change it not while everythings going well.

Now we have to beat Chelsea at the weekend and we have to beat Man U if we don't win all our games between now and then we can kiss the league goodbye. It's a stupid place to be in because we should be clear at the top.
