Midweek Football Thread. *spoilers* 25-27

But Eduardo could have said to the ref its not a foul I was never touched but he didn't, his smug look walking to the spot, he only has himself to blame for cheating, the game was over after the penalty.

Young's dive was worse, imagine nought will come of it either and prove what a joke it all is.

Edit - Then again, just by banning him for 2 games is a joke. You might aswell break someone's leg, it'll only cost a 3 match ban.

It doesn't matter now though. Yes the penalty was unfairly won and yes he looked incredibly smug, smiling to the camera as soon as the whistle blew, but the game is over now, that doesn't condone anything but bringing it up time and time again will not solve the problem. All I want to see is that diving and simulation is dealt with properly in future. Eduardo could have gone to the ref and said something, but he didn't, that wasn't very sportsmanly of him at all and he has embarrassed himself greatly.

As long as we start seeing suspensions for players caught diving and simulating then I'm happy.

I don't get why its causing such an uproar.

Yes, it should be applied fairly to everyone, and no, I'm sure it won't be. Doesn't mean its wrong that Eduardo gets punished for what was quite clearly cheating.

Doesn't answer why everyones in an uproar about Eduardo being punished. Thats reason to be upset about other people not being punished, but not this case.

The same people saying its wrong are no doubt the same ones who complain about diving week in, week out.

Wenger is a prime example, he'd be fuming if Celtic had won and one of their players had dived. He's only upset its one of his players thats been caught.

if he gets banned i wonder why it took uefa so long ?(platini did critisize wenger/arsenal quite a few time though)
drogba, c. ronaldo, gerrard and countless other players dived before but no action was taken, also uefa choose to ignore referees word something i never seen happen in football.

the xenophobic reaction from the media doesn't surprise me, its ok for a english player to dive (rooney, j.cole, gerrard) usually there's no mention of it in papers and especially on MOTD but when a foreigner does it everyone wants to crucify him.

celtic had no chance of beating arsenal anyway, can't see why they're getting their panties twisted over it.

i don't condone what eduardo did and i hope UEFA will review every controversial incident from now on.

I want extra time, I've been starved of football, it would be good.

I don't want penalties, they're ****, that would be bad.

:p
