Midweek Football Thread *spoilers and all that*

Torres will never join United.

true but as the poster below says, he'd be better off.

im not saying he will (about a 95% he wont), im just saying if liverpool ant in the champions league which i can actually see as a real possiblity i think he'd be pretty peeved. hes considered one of the top 3 worlds best out n out strikers and yet he'd be in the europa league... not good practise for him. he'd probably move away from england rather than join united but personally i have no idea why he joined Liverpool, either its the spanish connection from mr benitez or he just plain made a bad choice. I understand why he didnt go for somebody else in spain due to loyalties to Athletico but he could have chosen a better side. ever since i first saw him i was hoping he'd end up at Man Utd as he seemed a perfect player for them, but meh, he went to liverpool where on a personal level hes done fantasticly but on a team perspective not so much, right now with thier finanicial problems and crazy manager its just not looking good on merseyside. Xavi Alonso and Arbeloa two spanish players ushered out the door by benitez is where its all gone wrong this season for me, midfield looks silly and glen johnson for 18million was the joke of the century, portsmouth were laughing all the way to the bank with that check.

get rid of benitez and start seeing a manager with a fresh look at the players and i think babel would start to shine and Aqua-man might actually get some face time. I generally believe babel is a player who needs to be confident and playing week in week out, under benitez system u just dont feel secure in the team, Man Utd switch n swap but you know where you stand there, where as benitez constantly seems to be pitting players against each other in the positions and its destroying morale and faith in thier abilities.

I reckon if Torres went anywhere it would be, like you say, abroad. My money would be on Barcelona if they offered the cash. I would say Real but he used to play for Atletico so I doubt he would do that to the fans.

As for tonights champions league matches, does anyone know how good or bad ITV's commentary is? The Arsenal match is being shown by them tonight and I haven't watched football on ITV for a while.

On the subject of Arsenal look at this list of crocks:

William Gallas (hamstring), Emmanuel Eboue (muscle), Armand Traore (hamstring), Andrey Arshavin (ankle), and Tomas Rosicky (groin) all picked up knocks for Arsenal against Stoke and have not travelled.

Long-term absentee Robin van Persie remains sidelined after an operation on his serious ankle injury and Nicklas Bendtner is still recovering from groin surgery.

Kieran Gibbs will be out until February having fractured a metatarsal in his left foot against Standard in Arsenal's last European game.

Captain Cesc Fabregas has not travelled with the squad, while Abou Diaby (calf), Bacary Sagna (ankle), Johan Djourou (knee), Gael Clichy (back) and Denilson (back) also stay at home.

And people say Man Utd are in an injury crisis! :o

We are already assured of top place in our group so this game means nothing really but it would be nice to carry on our unbeaten record thus far in the competition. Song looks to be playing and also Silvestre, which is good because these are the players we need to build form up. Especially Song, he definitely has some good games but there's just something about him that whenever he makes tackles in and around the box I always find myself sitting on the edge of my seat with my heart in my mouth. :o

Can't seem to find the starting line up unfortunately but apparently Vela, Ramsey, Wilshere and Song will all feature. 2-1 to Arsenal is my prediction but it'll be a tough match given that Olympiakos can still qualify and will do everything to do so.

Had a ticket for tonights game at Anfield but couldn't get time off work for the third European game in a row :(

Don't really care what happens because the Europa Cup's the place to be but a win and another clean sheet would be nice.

That's 14, I think we had the same amount out. The difference is the majority of ours are in one area. It's not as much of a crisis if they're spread out, as long as you can field the 11 you're good to go. I doubt you'll have to play many players out of position.

3 Left backs, 3 Strikers :p but it's the youth/reserve team playing anyway. None of the first team where likely to play.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being good, and 1 rubbish, it will be -9999

Song has been one of Arsenals most important players this season.

I think roughly so. Running straight down it there's a 442/451 option either way.

Edit, not sure on Cruise or Bartley myself. Most of the midfield players can play in a few different places too.

It wasnt that he wasnt fit for the weekend shamikebab, Rafa if i re-call right used his everton excuse its not fair to play him any length of mins in a very physical game when its his first game and then went onto say he is physical fit and mentaly fit but hasnt match fitness. Only reason he maybe playing tonight is that it makes no diff wether we win or lose.
