Midweek Football Thread *spoilers*

Wilshere ;).

Rofl :D

Aside from Jamie Carragher, right?

Rofl :D

I'm a better central defender than Jamie "I'm retiring from International football because I look a **** everytime he announces the squad" Carragher.

Ohh come on - at his peak I agree Rio is the best central defender England have got , but he has spent more time on the sidelines over the last few seasons than he has on the pitch (certainly seems that way at any rate)

Shut up Frank, just shut up.

Rio has to prove himself before the WC I think. He should be on the plane regardless, but after a few months on the sidelines and a few mistakes he can't expect to be automatic number 1 at the minute

We talking about the 2018 host city in here as well?

If we are then I've only just seen the draw and LOL! What on earth, some of the choices are honestly stupid.

I can't see him taking over from David James tbh, Capello has stated that the players he takes must be playing regulary for their club.

I can't see Rio dispatching Van der Sar, Kuchchchak or Ben Foster at the moment.

Or right, I get you now :D

Whether you like it or not, he HAS struggled with injuries over the last 18 months - when was the last time you saw him play at his physical peak for three consecutive games let alone a decent run?

At his peak there is nobody better at reading the game and driving the team forward (and we have missed him due to this) but he has suffered with his back for the last two or three seasons, constantly missing games. I dont really know how you can argue against this

hes not hence the comical reply of 'shut up frank, just just up' :P

we'd all like to think hes going to get better, but likely thing is he wont recover. i think our hope for Centre defense is in the hands of michael carrick!
