Minecraft OCuK Forum Members Server Thread

Wow that was a big read, I've only been away for 5 hours :S

Gar's post seems to make sense to me, and I'd like a spawn that was a bit better laid out, so my votes with the server reset I think, I can always rebuild the castle of doom

Just installed mumble, and it is rather empty (just me). guess that's because the servers down/unavailable, and its ~0230.

It's rather annoying that Multiplay (?) don't update the server quickly, even if there are potential performance issues. No-one being able to access the server in the mean time is rather more awkward.

I compleatly forgot about the mumble server, I'll have to get that installed on my new HDD and join in. Sometimes though I'm often doing other stuff while playing (one of the great things about minecraft, its easy to multi-task and still play :D) and may not be too active on it, but at least it will help with any coordination going on, or just general chatting.

If there is a restart I've started designing a mini version of the fort (very very mini), with good walls, a small farm corner, a small warehouse corner and a small furnace corner , and a whole scorner spare or hookers.. err i mean sheep.

Then I'm making this :D

anyone?

shame there's no massive under ground caverns.

I will use Mumble once we can access server again, also have no issue making a contribution to the server, I was renting my own the past month, but was a bit boring with just two of us.

Have found the OCUK server to be good fun, nice playing with chat etc

It's up to the players to form a server community spirit.
I have always had the tool in place by adding a 24 slot Mumble server for the soul use of server users. Its details are on the OP.
Maybe some players need to apoint them self roles within the server like a community leader.
There are lots different types of people on the server, myself I am more someone who enjoys the managerment side of the servers running I don't do much building I spend 80% of my minecraft time reading up & working out want mods would be good to install & finding better ways of making the server better.
I am not someone who has the skill or time to get a community spirit going on the server.

As I said way back I just wanted to play minecraft online like lots of others on the forum at the time.
I just happened to be guy who did it.

So... what's your stance on a server reset?

Can't say I'm in favour or against a reset, think I'll sit on the fence on this one :).

It would be nice to keep all our hard work, but on the other hand I can understand why there is a demand for a reset due to the dupe exploit and everyone starting on level playing field. I'm happy with either result. No doubt they'll be required resets further along the line as the game heads towards a full release.

I think a server reset would be best, although I havent built much myself. I think from peoples experience on past projects it could only get better and it would be good to rally together working on a new spawn point :). The ideas of a shop, vaults, and smaller world map sound good as well.

I'm guna sit ont he fence for this 1, mostly because I didn't have a clue what I was going to build an just stuck my self on an island and built from there, still a fair amount to loose tho.
