If its 300 for a diamond, and 3 diamonds for a pick then thats 900 cobble per pick. Each diamond pick has 1025 uses, if you take away the cost for the next pick you end up with 125 cobble profit.

A stone pick only has 65 uses, so you need 16 stone picks to do the same work as 1 diamond. 16 x 3 cobble per pick = 48 cobble. 16 stone picks = 1040 cobble - 48 cobble for picks = 992 cobble profit.

So over the same ammount of blocks using stone picks will net you nearly 8 times as many cobble overall. Diamond picks will still be more efficient for clearing large ammounts of stuff out of the way as it still has a net profit so you will be able to constantly get a new pick each time the old one runs out, but if the goal is to end up with as much cobble as possible then even though stone picks are slower the expense of them is negligble.

Diamond by itself is expensive, yes, but the tools made by it aren't.
 
thats what he's saying you'll always have a diamond pick as the main use for diamond is tools it makes diamond pretty much worthless.

To be fair one of the creepers blew up just as I was coming down the steps from the spawn and killed me. There was some collateral damage to your house. (It was already damaged tho).

I did start to repair the land, but my client froze and the server was full when I tried to re-join so I gave up after a bit. As you will see above I have been having lots of issues with the client since beta and have not been able to stay connected for more than about 10 mins at a time. Sorry I will rejoin and fix as soon as the mac client gets more stable. Hopefully 10 more slots on the server will help too.

thanks but if it was already damaged then it wasn't your fault either (and it probably made it easier for the creeper to surprise you) so no apologies needed.




I've calmed down now but i still wont be on much of today, i'm helping my mate set up his 250litre reef tank. i will be on but it'll mostly be spent mining for cobble for spawn.
 
Is there a resource shop yet?

I'm hating these randomly appearing creepers, they should not be able to get into my base now as it's double walled and about 6 blocks high!!!! It's going to have a large tower but it's a bugger to mine resources quick enough tho, on the bright side, I have about 120 coal now and loads of wood.
 
Garsands, how great are your powers? Are you able to delete my tower and give me some cobble stone in exchange? :) I think I've built too close to spawn :/

is it properly lit?

they spawn in the dark.

Talk to ver for trading for cobble though he usually has a lot.

ou can always buy a bow an a lot of arrows for coal in my shop though to kill them creepers from range :p
 
Hmm... Might build an underground railway between my houses. AKA Subway. There's a lot of caves under my place too :P

Solves my Skybridge issue.
 
Do we travel on the left hand side on our railways here?

I'd also love to see a new cartograph, there has been loads more building on the server.
