This is what I'm currently blasting out, not sure exactly where Tefal's Dwarf place is so... Uhm. Trial and error, right? ;)

I was going to be pretty under that house an tower :/

But now so many people have built under it above it and some pretty much straight inside it that it's never going to happen.

This was discussed earlier, I don't really understand why garsands wants this. We've already broken the rule in quite a few places. The majority of track will be straight and a few blocks deep , it's hardly any effort at all to connect tunnels up. My only reason for -11 was to ensure you are under sealevel, but those who were doing the line from spawn to east station had to go a bit deeper because of falling sand/gravel.
garsands also mentioned he wanted a lot of it above ground... if this is to be used as a transport system, underground is much much safer, providing that it is sufficiently lit.
.

It was not a rule it was only my input to the rail system.
Thought that a 1/50 climb would be more real world like & take longer to build.
The same for it being mostly above ground where you can see your work not hidden under ground. It can be just as safe above ground with fences & torches again it just take longer to make but in the end would it not be more pleasing ?
Would it not be nicer to have bridges ? cuttings ? embankments ? with trees lining the side of the track with fences ?
Though it would make a nicer ride when you use it better then been stuck in a tunnel ?
This rail network is going to be made in no time at all by just making it underground. what are you going to make next ?
Would it not be better to do it the hard way so it takes longer why the big rush to put it up quickly.

The probelm I find with minecraft is theres only a certain amount of things you can build before it get to the stage of 'Now what do we build ?'

I was just thinking of seeing huge bridges carrying the railway across water, stone lined/half/dubble stoned cuttings holding back the earth.

Thats just my input. I just think its going up far to fast the easy way & soon we are going to get to burn out sdtage of 'Now what ?'

Unfortunately if your station is closer to spawn/yellow line than a substation... it's a bit of tough luck.

It's the exact same IRL, I live in Southampton and I have to go to London to get to many other places. At the end of the day, it will still be faster than walking, and safer. That's the main goal here.

If we start connecting directly to lines we shouldn't, it becomes a big hoo-haa...

IF many houses start appearing in a certain 'less connected' area, we can open up a vein off the main route because it will necessitate it.

The first and foremost thing we're doing here is setting up out 'base' system. Once connected we can look at the whole thing and think 'How can we expand this?'.

Because running 600 blocks to get to places gets old fast.

As in having to run now before the rail network is up so thats why you want it done quickly so you can get around faster sooner ?
If so then may be when finshed it could be reworked bit at a time above ground.
Don't want to sound like I am putting the work you have all done down. It's great that theres a big server build going on. I am just trying to improve the amount of time you get out of playing the game.
This is a free build server I let you all get on with what you wish to do & build but as I am out of the game a lot due to R/L this is the main place that I can add my input :p

In my bid to make more work for myself I will be adding a mail box (single chest) outside of everyones vault it will be protected under the vault owners name, other players can put items in the box but can not see or remove items form any mail box other then there own.

I will also be adding this mod to the server DSMail

Description
DSMail provides a messaging system to MineCraft in an email like fashion. Mail is always persistent and available as long as the user can login to the MineCraft server. Mail can be sent to users who are offline. Users who have mail when they next log on will be notified on server join.

Features
•Send mail messages to users who are online or offline
•Send mail to multiple recipients
•Single Instance Storage. Mail that is sent to multiple people is stored as only one item on the server. Allows for less disk space use and faster paging.
•Messages are persistent
•Read and Write mail from the server console
•Broadcast mail to everyone with /broadcastmail
•Address List - Can be accessed in-game with /mail al

This is the plan -
Telaf has some TNT for sale at 2 gold bars a block you know this as he has a sign in his shop. but Tefal is offline.
You wish to buy a block of TNT so off you go to Telaf's mail box outside his vault you place 2 gold bars in his chest then you send him a DSmail putting in your order & that you have paid him already.
Tefal logs on he has mail sees the order your offline so places the TNT in your mail box sends you a mail to say it has been delivered job done.

What I'm planning on doing is creating my own loop to the main track, then I can either walk to the nearest station or hop onto the main track from my "station", if that's possible, which I'm not sure it is yet.

Infact, my tunnel to the main track is already built :p
