Minecraft (online Lego essentially)

They didn't ask to go, or even want too originally, they were asked by Mojang, who wanted them to pay thousands just to have an hour long panel at Minecon.
And hardly crocodile tears, you think that youtube celebrities are millionaires? Far from it, they live probably on the same amount of money someone gets on average wage.

They still could have refused.

And youtube money is decent, more than your average wage if you've got millions of hits.

Also, why do you care so much?

And if they refuse, they dissapoint their fans and show Mojang they cannot be relied on for future minecons/conventions in general.
And youtube money is good if you get a million hits or more per video: Yogscast don't get that, they get hundreds of thousands of views, but not millions normally, and thus get less than Epicmealtime, who are wealthy indeed now (Have to be to afford the food they get) and are probably only slightly above the average wage.

And I care so much because people are alienating people who have never done this before, and accusing them of being asses when this is the first reported incident of such, and which is most likely taken out of context and the Yogscast are suffering due to it because people who have no idea what the Yogscast are really like are following Notch like a blind dog because he made a video game they like and his dirty tactics by talking behind their backs when he knows they can't respond.

Since when was 200+k a year just above average wage.
I doubt they get a pound for every view, and the yogscast have never revealed how much they earn but in videos of their house it's somewhere in the east end of London, with no flashy things but their computers. And they do show their house yes, and they have a garden that's tiny, smaller than the room I'm sitting in.
Because very wealthy people earning 200k a year live in that kind of accommodation, right?

People like phillyD get around 200k a year.
Of course they don't get £1a view, but some have a several million views a episode and several episodes week, every week of the year. Then most have merchandise and Netflix or other sponsors ontop.

You said epicmealtime time where just above average wage. No they aren't.

smaller than the room I'm sitting in.

Wow. Thank you for that brilliant point of reference. I can see it now. I can also see how this is an accurate way to deduce how much somebody makes.

Dude, i think you need to calm down. Nobody here knows the full story. Maybe we never will, and maybe we'll never care. Maybe we will and those of us who jumped to conclusions and took it so seriously will look like fools ;)

He's quite a good SC2 caster though. :p

Yeah, I do enjoy his vids.

They get paid quite well actually.

I didn't say that about epicmealtime, did I? I said they were wealthy.
And the most viewed episode they have done was only about 3 million, if that. And they have 2 sponsors, from what I've seen, hardly anywhere near 200k a year.
I'd say, that if not at average wage, were in £24,000 a year then.

And sorry for that, should have mentioned how big this room is.. :P

I am calm, I'm just defending my point of view and the people I believe are right, I'm just stubborn.

And I don't think tbh, that anyone but yogscast know how much they earn, they've never stated it on youtube, and I'm guessing from what I've seen. It's a difficult thing to estimate tbh.

If anyone can find a source for how much they do, I'd be grateful so we can settle that matter.

Why not 200k a year? It's going to be way way more than that with sponsors and merchandise.
It's.
3million views? Try

It's roughly 3k per million views, then you have subscription money and adverts.

Epicmealtime, who are wealthy indeed now (Have to be to afford the food they get) and are probably only slightly above the average wage.

It seems to me that this whole thing is probably just some misunderstanding that just got out of control. Looking forward to hearing the Yogscast's side of the story anyway.

I was talking about the yogscast at that point again - should have made that clearer, working on a summary of 5 chapters from Animal Farm at the same time so sorry if I make mistakes, It's hard to multi-task :P
And they don't have that many sponsors I believe, though they will make a fair bit out of merchandise - fair point, but even then, Las Vegas is extremely expensive even for the wealthy to stay in, and that's not counting transatlantic flights aswell.

Indeed, I would like more information as Notch's version seems very loose and fake, but I may be wrong.

Stop editing! :p, and why are you applying what I'm saying about the yogscast to Epicmealtime? I think it was perfectly clear that I didn't say 3 million views with Epicmealtime.

It takes time to find, and seeing as you on,y mention epicmealtime in that paragraph who am I meant to think you are talking about.

I referenced points I had made about the yogscast which I had told you I was talking about the yogscast when you misunderstood that too, I think that nobody in their right mind would say that about epicmealtime.

... Totalbiscuits post on reddit about this foolish debate: Here ...

Even though I find TotalBiscuit can sometimes be a bit arrogant, I find myself agreeing with him here. Then again...we don't know the whole story yet.

I've seen lots of posts on minecraftforum.net of people announcing how they've unsubscribed from the Yogscast channel. Yeah, they have 1.2 million subscribers...you will not be missed. I bet most of them re-sub within a week.

Epicmealtime release like 1 video every 14 days. Yogs do 1-2 a DAY. Yes they get less views, but if you add it all up... They make a ton of money. All 3 of them work full time on it now. Plus all the others they pay to help them out.

It's really hard to try and say anything about Yogscast income as we know little about how they spend it etc, how much they get. It's all speculation.

Plus, in a forum where those who play minecraft tend to lean towards Notch naturally from what I've seen, it's difficult to keep going :p

Anyway, night all, hope this is all over when I wake up :)
