Minecraft Thread

I had a quick flick through a few pages and got the general idea, just kept tinkering till it worked. There was one good video I'll see if I can find it. If you add me on live you can have a look at mine, got a few different ideas working at the minute.

Ive played for 4 hours today :S
I already have a huge skyscaper that goes past the clouds but its quite basic.
So today i started making a replica Burj Khalifa, I intend on making it accessible only via an underground minecart. took ages just to make a decent size base. I ended up placing it on a slight hill and removing an area about 30 x30x4 heigh and then extending the hill sideways.

This game is too addictive.

Also i got lost in a network of caverns at the bottom of the map. This was a right pain as ive made about 10 entrances to the same caverns with out meaning to. and they pretty much extend throughout the entire map.....
I then died in the dark (I always light up as i go but ran out of torches.
I died by walking in lava unsucessfully and as a result am down about 3 diamond pickaxes and quite a few iron ones

i think i will makes some mini houses underground for when i do stupid stufff so i can store loot etc

My favorite mods of all time:
Wireless Redstone
More Pistons
Backpack Mod
Mo' Animals
check them all out.

Also there is this thing called MagicLauncher:
It allows you to install minecraft mods by just selecting the .zip file through
its interface. The best thing about it is that the mods are only present in minecraft
until you close the game. When you start minecraft through magiclauncher again the mods reappear. This is great because if you ever have to do a force update you don't lose all of your mods!

Follow this guide for mob spawners

Cheers mate I'm going to watch this tonight because I've found 3 spawners all in one cave that led to another.

I've built some massive underground network behind my house that has loads of different caves, it also leads off to another island by cart so if anyone needs the travel 500m achievement can come to my world and use it.

I have a skeleton mob spawner and I built that farm. I found that the mobs glitch a lot at the bottom of it and don't die from repeated sword hits. So as there is no xp in game yet I just made the drop for the mobs a bit longer so they die on impact on the floor and I collect loads of bones and arrows from them when I need them.

Minecraft purchase query

My oldest two kids have been playing the xbox360 trial version of minecraft on my xbox which is connected online
Both have there own xboxes but neither is connected to the Internet as I feel they are too young
I believe the game is download only so what is the cheapest way for me to get it on all three xboxes ( or at least on their two)
Normally I would just buy a physical copy and make them share

You can buy a code from GAME for £13.99 I think.

I dont think you can get the game on 3 xboxes from one purchase, but you can for two xboxes, not sure if they need to have a Xbox live enambled gamertag though.

Console A Gamertag A
Console B Gamertag B

Move Gamertag A to console B. Purchase the game on Gamertag A on console B. Game is linked to console B.
Move Gamertag A back to console A. Re-download game.

Full game on both consoles. Works for 99% of all DLC.

I recently bought this on the 360 as the PC version is very demanding on my DM1 laptop. Even with all the tweaks and Optifine I was struggling with frame rates with all but tiny draw distance.

After I bought it I started to regret the purchase. But this quickly changed! While the 360 version has quite a way to go to catch up with the PC version its incredibly fun on split screen. 3 player on split screen is crazy fun. Even though the 360 version is behind on the build and features I can say that I've had more fun on the 360 version than I've had on the PC.

4J studios have done a good job porting Minecraft to the 360. I really hope that the pace of the updates improve, obviously they won't be able to keep up with the PC version. But I'd like to see swifter movement of updates!

Played on Creative mode last night - OMG, it's so much fun flying around like Superman, then finding a nice place to plonk myself on to build my house. Definitely makes it more fun now as I have unlimited resource to experiment e.g. Red dust circuit, trying to make automation between me and my missus location.

Are the villages suppose to be populated? On creative mode, it's empty.

We need to get a community going for this. The problem it has compared to the PC version (check out the PC thread) is that multiple people play at the same time. It does make a difference!

How does this hold up to the PC version? My mate who's got an XBox is thinking of getting it since having a go on my PC and loving it, does it get all the updates and mod support of any kind?

No mod support, but the game does get patched well. The latest being as per above, with the inclusion of Enchanting :)
