Minecraft Thread

Picked this up the minute it was available on the marketplace even though I have it for PC already. Just like it's PC cousin it's totally addictive, didn't get to bed until 2am this morning. I know it's not as fully featured as the PC version but I love this game on Xbox. Hope they keep their promise to push down updates to us.

For someone that is very interested in the game (like me) but don't have it, would you recommend the PC or console version?

Logic would say the console version for me as I only play console games and never touch PC games, but I like the extras of the PC version and all that has to offer... but I like to play games on the console.

Tough choice.

Wish it came out on the PS3

I think it would work better on the ps3 !

Eh? How does that work? More impressive graphics maybe? ;)

Have the PC version but will likely pick this up for my son tonight. Will purchase on my gamertag on sons xbox so he can play then I can download again downstairs

I'd personally go where most of your friends are, that's usually how I choose which format to buy a game and is the main reason why I decided to pick up the console version. Single player Minecraft can be fun - but add in some friends and you can multiply that fun many times over plus it's nice to just sit back and relax with the controller ;)

If the option is there - I'd go with both though :D

I take it you get different types of rocks/minerals then?

Maybe I should just read the official page. :D

Never touched Minecraft until now, its so addictive! You basically get thrown into a world with nothing and have you to farm everything from your axe, to your home, and food then on top you have to survive the mobs that are lurking around.

But make sure you have a safe home and a bed before nightfall...

I picked this up yesterday and having never played it on the PC I was a little confused what to do....

After playing the tutorial I've now progressed onto trying to build a giant skybridge out of glass, fell off and died about 18 times! Decided to dig a big hole and contemplate my thoughts...

I tried the demo last night after having never understood why Minecraft videos seem to be the most popular thing on YouTube for something so simple.

I'm undecided whether to purchase it though.
It seems to me it's either one of those games you play for a week and then get really bored of, or it's one thats going to suck the life out of you.

I guess having friends to play with is also what makes it fun.

Tried the demo and I still don't really 'get it'

Perhaps it's better in multiplayer but I found it a bit dull on my own, Terraria was more fun, felt like minecraft but with an actual game added in.

Terraria is definitely more of an adventure. Really miss the variety of weapons, armour and enemies from that game. Minecraft makes it difficult to do things that should be simple, like making decent armour, having a bow and a decent number of arrows ready.

At the same time though, the construction part is better. I also love the feeling of helplessness that playing on hard gives you; you literally down tools and run for home the moment the sun starts to drop because if you're out alone after dark then you're as good as dead.

Made a floating glass palace yesterday. Filled the bottom floor with lava. My mate joined, set him up a bed in a spare room, removed the floor on the way out. You can guess what happened when he went to use the bed :p I love this game for moments like that! He got me the day before; I was digging straight down to see how far down the bottom was, about 60 blocks down he drops a load of sand down the hole, crushing me :D I think I'll try luring a creeper in to his mine tomorrow while he's digging.

Just picked this up after playing the demo and watching loads of Minecraft videos on YouTube, only single player at the moment as none of my friends have it (feel free to add me btw)

Quick question how do you take a screenshot? I read you pause then Y but nothing happens, do i need to be logged in to Facebook for it to work?
