surely that number plate can't be the real one (regarding the people checking it with insurers etc) as he bought it and drove it away on valentines day![]()
agreed, it was done by the dealer before it was registered, so I don't see how it's a modification. Here a point to though who are saying that it is a "Modification". It was done by the dealer, no? How does that make it any different from any other dealer fitted options? Would you declare those too?
As far as i understand you're meant to declare all modifications even from the factory. They won't affect the price for some insurers but it should be up for them to say it doesn't matter.
How else can you be convinced that you are not going to face any issues with a possible claim?
Chances are it wont matter even if you do crash, but why risk it?
depends on the policy/companies definition of a modification surelyAs far as i understand you're meant to declare all modifications even from the factory. They won't affect the price for some insurers but it should be up for them to say it doesn't matter.

The thing is many people don't insure their factory options. I'm sure a people here who have jumped on the "But it's a modification" have no declared every single option their car has fitted. I don't see how this Mini is any different.
It's a special order dealer option maybe, but it is still an option...

Can I insure my GTI as a standard 1.6?

Thats what i said?depends on the policy/companies definition of a modification surely
No, I mean it depends on their definition as to whether you're required to tell them, there's an array of different terms they use, non-standard modifications, after market modifications etc it would depend on the insurer as to whether you needed to inform them of a dealer option.Thats what i said?
Tell them everything then you are safe and they just use whats applicable.
