Mini keyring-sized digital camera/camcorder

Probably going to buy a wide angle lens for it if I get the extra 6 cams in, a wider angle can be very nice for recording some trips better.

I recall seeing the wide angle "fisheye" lens, a wee rubberised one that slips over the camera getting mentioned at one point, probably within this thread and on other forums. Can't remember where they are sold though, any ideas?.

Uploading a test video. What file sizes are people getting from this? It feels like it will run out of memory before it will run out of battery.

it should do about 15 minutes per gig - somewhat more if there's lots of stuff going on and somewhat less if it's just a blank image. :)

I succumbed to temptation and bought one from ebay (HK) and an 8GB Class 6 micro SD card. It will probably take a couple of weeks to arrive but i'm looking forward to filming a bike ride.

These are the current cheapest still as far as I know and all have been the 3#'s.

WTF?!

That's about a fiver including postage!!

I've already got two of these. I don't need 5 more. So why do I feel compelled to buy a load more? It almost seems rude not to at that price.. :\

A quick video:

Might need some explaining, basically I'm a member of a hackerspace here in Birmingham called fizzPOP. A hackerspace is a group of people interested in art, electronics, programming, hacking and generally making things that meet up to share knowledge/ideas and work on projects together. This weekend we have been working to create a Rube Goldberg machine (think of the game mousetrap). My camera was attached to one of the contraptions in the machine which is what you see happening in the video as we test it. If you're interested I have some photos up on Flickr.

I havent recieved mine, ordered a month ago. I emailed the guy, and he asked me to wait a bit longer.
I've now opened a dispute and he said if I wait another 5 days he'll send a replacement.
Might be a bit longer till I get some Heli shots, but the guy seems decent.

There's mine. Ignore the music :)
It 'jerks' every so often but it isn't bad for a £6 video camera. Do you reckon the jerkiness down to a low quality memory card?

It's because you're playing Ke$ha :p

It's probably to do with the random write speed of the SDHC memory card, it's easy to test with the free Crystal DiskBench tool, you really need the random write speed to be above 1.1 MBps.

I doubt it's the speed of the card, just the overall cheapness of the hardware/software and dropped frames and the like! Can't expect miracles for £9 ;)

Even my one has a very brief stutter - my card is a 4GB class6 SDHC too!

One thing I don't like is the wind break noise!

The SDHC card class is the minimum sequential write speed, these cameras write randomly so the random write speed is what matters, the class doesn't make any guarantee about the random write speed.

Anyone have one they want to sell, have an event on saturday that this would be perfect for. Let me know.

Have a look on ebay. You'll find UK sellers that will send 1st Class and it should be with you before Saturday if you order today.
