Hi,
I'm looking to order the parts for a mini PC.
I want the ones with the small 'cube' kind of shaped cases, but im not sure exactly what case/motherboard etc to get.
Could you guys help?

As cheap as possible please mate!
It's going to be used simply for one piece of software which basically tells an envelope printer what to print, that's it.

I was just looking at the Lian Li Mini ITX case, does it come with a PSU?

I was also looking at another case which was micro ATX, and a cube, but wasn't sure which motherboards would fit inside? it said 9.5 inch by 9.5 inch mobos would fit, but I couldn't find any dimensions on the micro ATX motherboards.
 
You'd be better off not building, and buying the smallest machine you can find instead if all it will do it one single software task.

Something like a revo or an asus eee box eb1012.
They are tiny but would perform sucha basic task well enough.
 
You wouldn't even need a eee box eb1012 for what he wants. ION graphics as a print unit? Get the B202 if you are going to get an eee box. But you can get cheaper still by getting a single core mini itx atom box and mini itx case with built in PSU. You could put it together for under £200.
 
Case: CFI-A6719 (built in 150w PSU) around £30.
Motherboard: Intel D410PT (single core) around £60
Memory: 2GB of DDR2800 (though the board can support 4GB) £35
HDD: £30 (for any manufacturer between 80 - 250GB, you don't need much for a print server).
CD/DVD drive: £25 (slim line as that's only what will fit in the case).

No. OCUK aren't very good when it comes to mini itx options. If you know where to look, you can find shops that specialise in mini itx stuff. The case and motherboard codes I provided should help you find them if you google those.

I've a box chockful of mini itx bits and pieces as when the original intel atom was released I went on a cheap PC building binge.
 
Brian if you've got enough bits left to actually make one that you think will be suitable, PM me about them :).

I added a mini ITX system up on OcUK but it's come up as about £400
 
It's not actually for me and i've jst been told it needs to be a little box/cube one.

So what about this spec? Does this case have a PSU cus it doesnt state :(?

Mostly that you're spending far more than you need to. An Asus eee pc 701 is surely dirt cheap by now, will do your task with no fuss at all, uses negligible power and comes with screen/keyboard built in.

An i3 for a print server? A 500mhz geode would be overkill :(
 
I knowww it's overkill but basically the people who are supplying him with the print servers at the moment are charging him about 2 grand a time, so this is still dirt cheap.

This is the only cube one I can find that I know 100% will all be compatible. I'm not sure about the motherboards fitting that Micro ATX cube box
