Mini-Review: Samsung 40KU6400 as a monitor

I came close to buying the Samsung monitor talked about in the opening post but I had other things to deal with first. Now I am ready to buy a 4k tv and I have come across the Hisense H43N5700 43 inch 4k tv with hdr. It looks like a nice tv and I can get it for £377 with discount so would this be a sensible idea? Will my 980ti be able to cope with 4k in games?

Thanks :)

So close to pulling the trigger on the Hisense TV. The only worries I have as I can't find this out anywhere, is will it do 4.4.4 chroma at 4k 60 hz and is the input lag at a decent level for gaming. This would be the sole use of the monitor for me

Is this TV still a good option for a monitor? it's been a while since this was posted so I'm wondering if anything better in this price range is available at all?

How is the motion on this? I had a look at rtings website and they gave (KU7000 US model same as KU6400 UK) 7.4 for motion which is pretty average.

I'm pretty sensitive to motion blur, that said my TV in the lounge is a KS8000 and that scored 8.1 according to rtings which is higher and that has been fine for my eyes. I am just however not sure if between 7.4 and 8.1 represents a big jump or not in how bad/good motion blur is. I would really like to have one of these as a monitor set up for video/gaming, the latest is the mu6400 which is essentially the same. I was originally looking at a cheap LG 4K TV but banding and uniformity appears to be a problem more on those.

Fixed my "Mode not supported" issue.

I am unable to run UHD Colour using my 780ti so just switched it back.

might try a display adaptor see how I get on.

Little update to my previous post.

Club 3D display worked like a charm and after reinstalling windows I can now use UHD Colour.

Super happy :D

P.s Poorersounds have this at £499 until 31st August ;)

I'm curious if anyone has moved from an X34 (with G-Sync and 100FPS) to a 40-43" 4K TV which is obviously going to max out at 60FPS with no adaptive sync tech... any drawbacks/negatives? I'd have thought even with a 1080Ti, unless you're playing at 1080p (which is surely going to look worse and more pixellated than the X34 at 1440p) 4K is going to see some jerkiness in newer games?

Knowing next to nothing about monitors, I am tempted to go with the Samsung TV MU6400. However at around £499, wouldn't be better to get a PC monitor such as the iiyama X4071UHSU-B1 at £530? Can someone give me some advice before I pull the plug?

Makes for some depressing reading this thread and shows just how hard pc gamers are getting screwed for monitors, which are essentially these with the tv internals stripped out and a display port connector added. So as usual, paying more for less.

I see that JL have the UE40MU6400 at £429 with 5 year guarantee, I take it that this is this years model and basically identical to the KU model, so should work just as well as a 4K monitor.

Would love to use headphones with this TV
Anyone got any ideas?
Bluetooth?

Or if you're talking an existing set of headphones with only a 3.5mm jack, some sort of Digital to Analogue Audio Converter - shouldn't be too hard to find a decent one for a small outlay. I think...

Thanks glitch, I am using Fidelio X2's. Would it be cheaper to get a converter or go down the bluetooth road?

How does one connect them to tv via optical out? Cheers

I had no idea what the X2 were until I searched, but if it was me I'd be wanting to use those lovelies! No chance I'd give them up.

I believe all you need is a suitable Digital SPDIF Toslink to Analog Stereo Audio Converter, that can be powered via USB. I've looked through a few reviews of products between £10 and £20 that suggest they work with Samsung screens, so that's what I'd do if I bought a MU6400.

Which I might... and would need to work with a wired headphone. If I buy a screen, I'll buy the converter from Amazon and report back.

Is hdr on this tv an actual "full" implementation that works in pc mode as well? Seeing a lot of mixed reviews in general, some saying its really bad for any fast motion objects.

I heard the same thing. I have started to look at some of the LG 43" 4K tvs instead because IPS has less motion blur than VA from past experience.

Hi, Ive been watching this tread for months, I almost purchased the ku6400 back in #April, anyway I didnt, but I have ordered the UE40MU6400 at £429 with 5 year guarantee when it was on offer a few days ago on JL. ordered a 2.0 hdmi cable from Azon, lets wait and see, excited but worried it will be too big haha.
