So what do you guys think? I've bot used it yet but would like to know what your thoughts are.

I gave this a try on my laptop the screen was flickering like crazy with LCD brightness going up and down. I don't think I've ever installed a Linux OS and not had any problems which is a shame because I would like to use it instead of Windows.

Do you mean constantly flickering or every now and then? It could be down to the battery saving settings.

I tried it didn't really get on with it, don't know why just didn't feel right.

Got Arch on my desktop after some messing about and all is good.

The screen was just randomly going crazy and the FN key and brightness didn't work so I think it's related, I was on AC power too. I've given up trying to install Linux on that laptop anyway, I've tried about 5 recent distros and all seem to have problems.

I'm thinking of putting together a low end PC with less 'features' to experiment with Linux, I really liked the look of Mint aside from the flicker.

Running it for a while now on my alternate desktop machine and it seems ok if not a little clunky at times.

Not really into Gnome 3 so I'm now trying the Cinnamon flavour ( Gnome fork... closer to 2 than 3 ) and I'm liking it a lot better

You can download the cinnamon desktop and session files straight from Software manager if you already have Mint 12 installed

Worth a look
