Mirrors Edge: Gameplay Video

im one of the people who thinks it looks awful. just don't think it'll work and tbh the free running looked pretty pants. 10-15 minutes of running about jumping and you'll get bored unless they add 20 odd people on other rooftops shooting and throwing grenades to liven it up. running about trying to dodge ridiculous amounts of bullets is definitely the way to go for me, there has to be some incentive to want to hurry and keep it fast paced

Portal worked a treat - I see this the same way.

For the people saying that it's all mapped out for you, it didn't look too obvious to me. I reckon it's almost certainly a special ability/option you can turn off. Otherwise really, yeah what would be the point :p

I wonder if it'll be better on consoles - control-wise, I know I preferred Assassin's Creed on the 360 as it gave me a better...feel...of Altair.

yeah portal worked a treat and is a brilliant game but this is going to be nothing like portal. portal wasn't a fast paced game like this looks like its supposed to be. the first thing you do when playing portal when you go into a room for the first time is look around and see whats going on an assess it. in this your going to be running full speed ahead without a clue whats coming up and if that vid is anything to go by there's going to be plenty of times where you go the wrong way or should have jumped up something and have to go back again and that would just get annoying

Yeam Im thinking this, can't help but feel it will probably ending up primarily being a console game, analogue sticks just feel better for this kind of fluid movement imo.

Mouse+KB beats any controler for moving a person about, more so if 1st Person over 3rd Person.

Also in a Shooter, the Consoles have Autoaim as without it they would not be able to hit a barndoor.

I disagree, its better for twitch aiming but this game doesn't look like it requires that. Analgue sticks allow different speeds of movement (as supposed to the digital movement of keyboards) and I think that might be more important for this game. Assassins Creed felt far smoother with gamepad to keyboard and mouse because twitch aiming just wasn't required. No contest for stuff like UT/Quake/COD4 but I think its different for these types of games. Same for games like Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia.

Well most will back me on this and same in any PC game site when a Kiddie enters to say his 360 is better to control in a FPS game.

I aint talking the above game, Im talking overall 1st Person games, 3rd person lesser but still better with Mouse+KB IMO.

Its been said/argued a 1000 x's and if a very good 360 gamer used a crossplatform game and met a average PC gamer in a 1st Person Shooter (say COD4), he would get headshot every time before he could even aim. ;)

You're missing the point, this doesn't seem to be a first person shooter, although it has shooter elements (only briefly shown) it seems to be more about movement and disarming moves. Mouse doesn't really give you a great benefit here because its not about twitch aiming. I am not a kiddie saying 360 control is better for FPS, in fact if you read my post you'd notice I said the opposite for FPS.

I never said it was.

You need READ a bit better in this thread and the FarCry 2 one m8, cause your misreading me and I DID read the end part about other games you agreed on (take a leaf out your own book). ;)

Trust me I am reading your posts, why come into a thread about an individual game and then start discussing general control methods for genres  We were discussing this games control method and you came in with the blanket statement that "Mouse+KB beats any controller for moving a person about, more so if 1st Person over 3rd Person" which I then said wasn't necessarily true and explained why. Then you started going on about console gamers vs pc gamers on FPS, which not only has absolutely nothing to do with this thread but also wasn't referred to anywhere in my post.

No I commented on Negative comments about ports etc, GET your facts straight in here and in the Farcry 2 thread where you were talking about wrong facts about Vegas(2) release date(s).

Nobody here has seen enough of this game or Farcry 2 (in its thread) to say its crap.

I have my facts straight thank you, I was wrong in the other thread but I have not made any incorrect statements in this one. Just saying READ and GET your facts straight rather than addressing any of my points is rather immature. And i don't believe anyone has said the game is crap. People have said certain aspects of the game look poor (which are fair comments from a gameplay video)

This game looks very good, just my kind of fastish paced game and the graphics look amazing for its style (the same way TF2 looks amazing). I look forward to this game more than Farcry 2 in some ways!

Oh and Mouse and KB are the superior modes of transport for FPS games, FACT and it's the reason why some games on the consoles are slower paced online (you know the name...) because of this handicap.
