So there's a new ism on the BBC "misogynoir"
Can you guess what it is?

Misogynoir... it's the combination of sexism and racism that affects black women in everyday life.

Jay-Ann Lopez set up the Black Girl Gamers to try to tackle misogynoir after she experienced a series of abusive messages while gaming. The community is a safe space online where women can connect and play together.

Jay is also a vocal influencer in the black community and is working to combat misogynoir in wider society.

She's been to meet the founder of Black Girl Festival, Paula Akpan, to talk about how prevalent misogynoir is and the ways it can be tackled.

My guess is that its like misogyny but with the y taken out and replaced with noir being black "misogynoir"

The BBC just feels like a right-on campaign platform to me these days. There's calling things out and then there's shoe-horning. The STI feature random sampling of participants made me chuckle.

It's as if they want to get old people choking on their cornflakes. Maybe even give them an aneurysm and kill them off. :p

There can't be much actual news these days because there are an increasing number of pet issue pieces on the front page, often quoting some obscure person's Twitter post. I'm assuming maybe friends or acquaintances of staff. :D

Interesting you say that as I have BBC feedback along the following lines recently:

(a) stop basing news articles on random twitter quotes / social media opinions, or supplementing articles with them. Mostly two quotes are used from silly polar opposite positions presented as if they are ‘2 sides of the argument’ when they represented the views of very few.

(b) be more zealous when it comes to identifying / promoting ‘social justice’ issues that are worth raising awareness of. The current trend of ‘promote everything’ means that people ‘grey out’ to material issues.

Both have been bugging me for quite some time. I also find my position slightly odd in that I would agree that sexism and racism are things worth raising awareness of. It’s just HOW it’s relentlessly presented By the BBC that may be damaging to the cause.

How does she know the abusive messages weren't being sent by black females, or is she just assuming their colour and gender?

How very intersectional.....

But I can go one (maybe two?) better....

Transphobiamisogynoirablism .......(good luck reeling that one easily of the tongue)

Its the word to describe the 'everyday combination' of racism, sexism, ablism and anti trans bigotry.

Yea well....welcome to the modern BBC...

It's now a platform for lunatics and professional victims.

But at least it's made some gold accidental comedy and memes. Who remembers "digital blackface"? :D

Nail on head. Too much exposure for the tiny numbers of crazies at either end (constant bombardment) will just annoy or even desensitise the majority in the middle ground.

Intersectionality.

I can't say I'm fully up to speed with it, but it's quite interesting, really. And intuitive.

So a woman faces certain inequalities, a black person faces others, but a black woman faces both, and those factors actually feed off each other to create a greater overall inequality, or a different type of inequality that would be missed by taking those two factors separately.

There's an example on Wikipedia:
Intersectionality Wikipedia said:
In the field of social work, proponents of intersectionality hold that unless service providers take intersectionality into account, they will be of less use for various segments of the population, such as those reporting domestic violence or disabled victims of abuse. According to intersectional theory, the practice of domestic violence counselors in the United States urging all women to report their abusers to police is of little use to women of color due to the history of racially motivated police brutality, and those counselors should adapt their counseling for women of color.

And this can apply to lots of areas. Class, for example. Or disability.

This is nothing new, it is the foundation of the identity politics/SJW nonsense we've seen recently.

It is why when Serena Williams gets into an altercation with an umpire then immediately people will cite her gender and race when defending her rather than look at what actually happened... and you'll see articles about how society trying to oppress loud powerful black women etc...
